Overview
Description
Nestled in the heart of the pretty village of Aberford near Wetherby, our lovingly restored, stone-built cottage offers the perfect blend of period character and modern comfort. Originally an old stable, this unique holiday retreat still boasts its original arrow slit windows and oak beams, celebrating its rich heritage while providing everything you need for a relaxing stay. Whether you need somewhere to stay whilst working in Leeds or York or looking to explore the region, the space is warm, welcoming and equipped for all your needs. There’s no need to toss the coin to decide who will do the driving: our friendly local pub, which serves food and real ales, is just a short walk away. There are two other pubs within a 10 mins drive.
Our Village Coffee Shop has tasty treats such as cakes, pies and sausage rolls and will make your sandwiches to order. They also stock basic essentials including bread, tea and milk. For a longer shop, Tesco's, Lidl and M&S Food are a 10 mins drive away, with Sainsbury's and Morrisons a little further away.
You will find a selection of restaurants, cafes and take aways in Garforth, Wetherby or Boston Spa - all a short drive away. The Springs shopping centre has a small selection of high street shops, restaurants, cafes, a cinema and mini golf.
The village has a children’s playground and a separate children’s recreation area with a basketball court, a three-quarter sized tennis court, table tennis and a grassy area for playing football. Further afield, there are plenty of local attractions and activities to keep the children happy, including the adventure playgrounds at Stockeld Park or the amazing collection of rock formations at Brimham Rocks.
Thanks to Aberford’s excellent transport links, you’re a half hour drive away from Leeds, York and Harrogate and within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales. The local bus goes to Leeds City Centre, whilst trains from nearby Garforth will whisk you into the city in around 15 minutes and to York in about 20 minutes.
Aberford is the perfect base for a variety of activities whether visiting stately homes, art galleries, nature reserves or going golfing. Must see attractions include: York Minster, Harewood House, Kirkstall Abbey, The National Railway Museum, The Hepworth Wakefield Art Gallery, Bramham Horse Trials, Fairburn Ings and St Aidan’s Nature Reserves. For golfing enthusiasts, Garforth and Tadcaster Golf Clubs are only a short drive away.
