Overview
Description
Corlan is a luxurious holiday home in the Welsh village of Llanfarian, close to historic Aberystwyth and within walking distance of the beautiful River Ystwyth. With a large hot tub and games room which has a 6ft pool table and bar, this large detached cottage is ideal for big families, extended families, or friends. It has plenty of space to sleep up to nine people in four bedrooms and three bathrooms. It's a fantastic choice for people who enjoy being outdoors and active, exploring the coast, climbing mountains, sightseeing and doing all the other fun things that make this part of Wales a year-round favourite holiday destination.Llanfarian is a pretty, tranquil village just over 2 miles south of the lovely seaside town of Aberystwyth which sits on the beautiful coastline of Cardigan Bay. Guests staying at the cottage can enjoy direct access from the front door onto the Ystwyth Cycle Trail which takes a scenic route along the river, by foot or bike, into the harbour of Aberystwyth with cafes, restaurants and shops - everything you could need or want is within easy reach without being in your face.
When you're ready to explore, you'll find Aberystwyth bursting with fun. The popular seaside resort is home to a prestigious university, and arts centre, and the National Library of Wales. Instead of a High Street crammed with copycat names, it's a lively mix of independent shops, stylish bars, and quirky cafes. Food is a massive deal in Aberystwyth, where eateries cater for all tastes and budgets. Though you might arrive ravenous, especially if you've walked or cycled from the cottage, you certainly won't leave hungry!
Day trips can include a relaxing day on one of Aberystwyth's glorious blue flag beaches, walking along the Wales Coast Path and drinking in panoramic views over Cardigan Bay. Take your binoculars to spot sea birds and dolphins, or book a seat on a sightseeing boat trip to get a little closer to Britain's biggest pod of bottle-nose dolphins. It isn't only walkers who enjoy the scenery around Corlan Cottage. Mountain bikers also love the diversity of local trails which suit all disciplines and abilities. Aberystwyth is a university town and boasts a narrow gauge railway and cliff railway, a traditional cinema and the largest Arts Centre in Wales.
You'll adore every minute of your holiday when you stay at Corlan Cottage. It is the complete package of luxury accommodation, fantastic location, space and views. The cottage is available for bookings all year round. The owner has two other holiday homes close to Corlan Cottage, each finished and furnished to the same high standard. Depending on availability, they can be booked together for extended families or friends who want to holiday together without sacrificing their space or privacy. Please see the owner's website for details.

Leave ReviewGreat place with a few niggles
By Mark Cohen on 13-Jun-2025This is a great house with lots of space, generally well equipped, clean and comfortable. Bedrooms are all good and we slept well. The kitchen is well equipped with lots of crockery. The hot tub was nice in the evenings and the games room was a real boon. Internet was fast with no dropouts. The local red kites often gave us flying displays. Lots of other people have commented on the positives but there is room for improvement. The garden chairs are cheap and uncomfortable, there are no loungers or parasol for sunny days. The hot tub is good but is showing its age and there is no awning for rainy or really hot days (but the lack of this does make watching the red kites easier). The sofas in the living room are quite worn and not particularly comfortable (but the two armchairs are great). We also found the caretaker somewhat unhelpful. When one of the toilet seats broke, he asked us to live with it as he would need to get someone out to repair it! We also asked for more rubbish sacks as there was only one in the main waste bin but were told we had to provide these ourselves (over £1600 for a week's rental - you would have thought that they could stretch to a few rubbish sacks).
We would definitely recommend Corlan
By Lynne on 21-Apr-2025"Great property for our family get away, everything we needed with the added bonus of the hot tub and pool table which were a great hit! Lovely riverside walk into Aberystwyth which we did twice. Would definitely recommend. "

Home from home & fabulous games room
By Sian on 28-Feb-2025"Corlan Aber is truely a lovely home from home. You feel at home as soon as you enter the property and have a lovely welcome gift upon arrival. The property is spacious and has a fabulous games room for entertainment. It’s in a wonderful location for walking and visiting town. We are a returning guest and have noticed a few changes since our last visit, so it’s lovely to see the owner makes improvements for guests. Thankyou, I’m sure we’ll be back in the future.
