We had a wonderful seven-day stay at this beautiful farm in the Peak District

By Ning Liu on 18-Aug-2025

We had a wonderful seven-day stay at this beautiful farm in the Peak District. The owners were incredibly nice and polite, and they provided everything we needed to feel comfortable during our stay. The location was perfect for us—right in the heart of the Peak District, with all the main attractions no more than a one-hour drive away. Our kids especially loved spending time in the mornings watching and playing near the sheep on the hillside, which made the experience even more special. In the evenings, we enjoyed looking up at the clear night sky filled with stars—it was truly magical. This is a fantastic place for families wanting to escape busy city life, especially with young children. We would love to say a big thank you to the owner of the farm and her son Sam for making our stay so welcoming. It was the ideal countryside retreat for our family, and we truly enjoyed every moment.

We had a lovely week at the cottage which was comfortable and well equipped.

We had a lovely week at the cottage which was comfortable and well equipped. Teresa and family were very welcoming & friendly. We found Gateham to be a very good base from which to explore the surrounding villages such as Hartington {groceries}, Wetton {easy walk}, Ilam and Bakewell, and our extended family used the camping field over the weekend. Tips for other travellers Pubs: Wetton {Royal Oak} Alstonfield [The George] Hartington { The Devonshire} Parwich {The Sycamore} Tiny Kiosk shop selling lovely pasties & ice-cream at Milldale. Bakewell for general shopping/eating & outdoor clothing shops.

This is the second time we have stayed at the farm and it was equally good both times.

This is the second time we have stayed at the farm and it was equally good both times. The surrounding area is beautiful and we loved being so close to the farm watching the animals. The house has everything you could need and is very clean and comfortable. Teresa and her family are very welcoming and we enjoyed a tour of the farm with Sam. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Had a lovely stay as we always have done over the years, that's why we return.

A very lovely cottage on a working farm in an ideal location to explore the southern peak district.

By Daniel Shoubridge on 07-May-2025

A very lovely cottage on a working farm in an ideal location to explore the southern peak district. would easily fit 4 adults and 2 children, lots of space and felt homely and comfortable with lovely views of the farm and surrounding area. hosts were welcoming and very friendly, despite being in the middle of a busy lambing season they made time to show us the baby lambs and we even got to feed them. would definitely visit again. 5 stars.
