Description
Boden Howe is perfectly situated on a peaceful, elevated terrace with uninterrupted views of the town and fells. There is no vehicular access to the property but this adds to the uniqueness of the house. Private parking for two vehicles and secure storage is provided close to the house. A West facing patio area is situated in the extensive garden at the rear of the house together with a garden bench at the front. Guests occupying Boden Howe have complimentary access to the leisure facilities at the Salutation Hotel and Spa less than 100 yds away.Boden Howe is stylishly furnished and maintained to a high standard and comprises of three bedrooms; one super king en-suite, one double and one single. The first floor lounge has exceptional views over the town to the surrounding fells as does the dining room on the ground floor with doors opening through to the large kitchen. A family bathroom is located on the first floor. A large sloping garden with paved patio area s located at the rear of the property.
Short breaks (4 night minimum) are available during December, January and February (excluding Christmas and February half terms) and we are happy to accept last minute short breaks during other seasons.

By Buckley on 08-Aug-2025WOW! We have discovered a love for Ambleside and the Lake District and will be persuading everyone to "go North" next summer. All 3 of us made it round the Horseshoe, though for us soft southerners it was a real challenge. The amazing weather on Saturday led to a touch of sunburn, but it was worth it. So glad to be able to soak my aching joints at the spa each evening. We have thoroughly enjoyed polishing off that delicious ginger cake and will tell everyone about the special place that is "Boden Howe" Thank you so much. My son was very inspired by Steve's knowledge of the area and he gave us the confidence to get out and do it!
An incredible house
By Signe Marie Nebel on 26-Jul-2025Boden Howe is an incredible house that I could not recommend enough. The house is full of character, well equipped and it was spotless when we arrived. The location in the heart of Ambleside was perfect for exploring the town and the Lake District in general. Although the house was centrally located, the elevated location away from any streets, meant that there was not any noise. Helen and Steve were extremely good hosts and were easy to communicate with. From the moment we stepped inside in the house, it was evident that Boden Howe was a place they cared for. An extra bonus was the spa facilities at the nearby hotel. So if you want the coziest house in Ambleside, with the best views, choose Boden Howe!
Fantastic stay, perfect house in Ambleside

Our favourite part are the views out of the windows over the hills and the bustling town below. We love having drinks in the sunny garden and especially like visiting the spa.
Home from Home in Ambleside

We love the location, garage for bike storage, car parking space and access to the Salutation Waterfall Spa - a game changer on wet days or after a day on the lake/up the fells. The owners are great and have made Bowden Howe very comfortable for visitors.
A lovely place to stay

Very easy to get to other local towns with good bus links plus train station in Windermere. Great for local walks. Local shops for supplies or restaurants to eat out.
Great accommodations!
By Diane on 21-Apr-2025We had a wonderful week at Boden Howe (April ’25). The house was beautiful, spotless and had everything we needed to relax and prepare meals. The view over the rooftops of Ambleside and toward Loughrigg Fell was amazing. It is less than a 5 minute walk to the main street to find groceries, coffee shops and restaurants, but the location is still quiet and removed from the busy streets. Our friendly host stopped in to make sure we were settled and made some helpful suggestions. Thanks Helen! We would go back there anytime!
