Description
Le Chatox - one of the best views from any chalet in the alps ! Ski, cycle, trek, chill. We have special rates for couples and families of 4 or less so just message or preferably just call to ask! We are real humans you can speak with !
Tucked away in the corner of this attractive little hamlet, Le Chatox (fronglais for chalet!) gives you one of the most stunning views from any chalet you'll find in the alps. So much so, that we went the extra mile and doubled the size of the balcony so you can dine outside 'en terrace' or just lounge under the spot lights taking in the view. In fact, turn off the light and wonder at the night sky as you enjoy your fav nightcap star gazing! In the morning the view of the mountain opposite (Dent de Rossanaz) will change hourly, so grab the Chatox binoculars to spot the birds of prey and the Les Bauges wildlife within.
Beautiful Annecy is nearby for swimming and exploring the old town called 'little Venice'. It was recently voted one of the most beautiful places to visit in France. Our local lake with restaurant and flumes, tennis and fun for little ones is just 10 minutes away! The French will wonder how you discovered their secret resort! All just 1 hour from Geneva airport. 8.00hrs from Calais
Our village Le Chatelard remains unspoilt and retains a certain rustic charm with its old store fronts and little alleys leading up towards the church. It is a quiet, friendly village with a large supermarket, bakery, bar and excellent restaurant, tourist information, bank, post office and a local food market every Friday morning.
Les Bauges is a walkers paradise. Great family skiing is here at unbeatable prices away from crowds. There are 5 resorts all within 30 mins from your home. This is cycling heaven with awesome routes used in the Tour de France. Having won the Annecy Triathlon relay, Paul can advise on routes for all abilities.
We always like to have a chat with prospective guests to make sure we've got everything you're looking for to make the most of your holiday in Les Bauges (the Wallows), an area of outstanding natural beauty, heritage and tradition. Its really important to us that we ensure we meet your expectations for your stay in our home from home. so don't be shy to call!
Le Chatox makes a great base to explore a wide range of outdoor activities or to simply relax and chill in the fresh mountain air with stunning views from your private terrace balcony or garden patio. Situated on a hillside on the outskirts of Le Chatelard in the heart of the Massif des Bauges regional park, Le Chatox enjoys superb views through the valley towards the mountains and is a just 30 minutes from the beautiful towns of Annecy, Chambery and Aix-Les Bains.
The lounge is open plan with a comfy L shaped sofa by the woodburner and an additional two seater sofa. Free WiFI throughout Le Chatox. For people not glued to their devices we have a book selection, games cupboard and guitar if you play. A new French smart TV was installed recently and comes via the French wifi. We've fitted a chrome cast for your devices if not from France. There's a large library of DVD films for evenings in - or chess and cards if you prefer. Being in France, we have French TV.
The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, De Longi coffee machine, and Wendy's spice cabinet! There's a fondue, BBQ and raclette set for meat and cheese fondue lovers. The Morso Squirrel wood stove puts out big heat in winter to couple with underfloor heating and there is a bathroom/shower on each floor. In winter we recommed using the woodburner and usually are able to supply logs (free of charge). Do ask if you've not used one before.
Le Chatox was built with light and space in mind so we have a sliding door to a patio at the side of the chalet to the garden with 4 sun loungers. A great area to BBQ.
The terrace balcony is quite large and you can entertain there seating 8 at the table for major dinners and BBQ's. We tend to spend most time here as we chose the plot deliberately for the stunning view of Dent de Rossanz or 'booby mountain' to our guests.
In the 'cave' or ground floor is garage parking and room for our full size competition table tennis. On a fine day just wheel it out in the sun! We also have tennis rackets for the courts in the village.

Leave ReviewA beautiful home from home.
By Carole and Richard Butlin on 13-Sep-2025Le Chatox was a wonderful place to stay as our introduction to the Savoie. Great facilities, a lovely large balcony for outdoor lunches and a secure garage for our road bikes (when not in use). The views were just stunning down the valley and of the surrounding mountains. Paul was very responsive to any questions we asked. Both informative and friendly.
Super chilled stay
By Blue Betsy on 09-Feb-2025A fabulous few days at The Chatox recharging our batteries. Beautiful walks nearby, quiet mountain villages to explore, the beautiful towns of Annecy and Aix Les Bains to visit, this area has it all. We loved cosying up next to the wood burning stove with a glass of red wine and playing cards. A fabulous stay. Thanks

A real Treasure !
By Snoopylong on 23-Feb-2024Snoopylong Bournemouth, United Kingdom1 contribution We have been lucky enough to stay in this beautiful chalet twice now and have been able to explore the area both in summer and winter. The chalet is wonderful with stunning views and is spacious and very well equipped with everything you will need for a great holiday. The kids also loved playing table tennis and darts in the evening. We have just returned from our first family ski holiday and stayed at Le Chatox. We had a fantastic time with the slopes less than a 30 minute drive away. This area is perfect for families and for beginners or skiers of intermediate level. The resorts in this area are not as well known and we were amazed how quiet it was on the slopes despite being February half term in the UK. If you decide to visit in the summer, there is plenty to do locally and the scenery is simply spectacular. We enjoyed zipwiring through the forests, swimming in the lakes, visiting Mont Blanc and exploring the beautiful town of Annecy. Paul and Wendy couldn’t be more helpful and are on hand before and during your stay if you have any questions. A fabulous chalet in a wonderful part of France which is beautiful at any time of year - highly recommended! Read less Visited February 2024
An amazing adventure
By Claire B on 10-Feb-2024Claire B 1 contribution Wow……What an amazing place to stay & fabulous location! We travelled by car from the UK via Le Shuttle, easy drive, great views as we began to get closer to the accommodation. So easy to find, a quiet little hamlet with amenities close by. The chalet, was like home from home, plenty of parking, spacious accommodation, clean & tidy, kitchen & dining area really social, everything you need there & more, a slow cooker was great especially after a day of skiing. Love the squirrel stove, worked wonders completing those cosy nights. Bedrooms really spacious with Cosy beds & great views of the mountain on the balcony! Loved the stars at night & sunrises in the mornings. Great to have two bathrooms with many of us staying there! Entertainment with the darts & table tennis too! Skiing was brilliant, our group had some experienced skiers & beginners, we all took lessons as hadn’t skied for some years & some first timers. Highly recommend the ski lessons. The instructors were amazing, really friendly, calm & patient!! Learnt so much & managed to get to the top of the mountain & goat shed for a cheeky midday ski food & drink! Ski hire place we used was Allion Sport, even though our French is limited & their English too! The service was great, very helpful, changed our equipment mid week as some went from snowboarding to skiing & reasonable price wise, same for the ski resort as it’s a local village, not commercialised at all which was right up our street!! Wendy & Paul couldn’t have been more helpful prior to our visit, during & on our return home. Will defiantly be returning. Thank you for the wonderful memories Read less Visited February 2024 Written 11 March 2024. This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
