Description
Welcome to our beautiful 5* mediaeval tithe barn, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park.Spacious, comfortable and painstakingly restored, the Tithe is uniquely placed in a peaceful rural location, while being just a short walk from the centre of thriving Ashburton, with its renowned food, culture and antique shops.
Indoors, the Tithe Barn offers three very large bedrooms, all with luxury ensuite bathrooms; a utility and drying room; a chef's kitchen and large dining table; an open plan living space with comfortable chairs and large sofas, giant TV and wifi; and a huge games room with table tennis and pool.
Outdoors there is a private patio with gas BBQ and dining area; ample parking; a nature pond and orchard; a play area for kids with swings and slide; two mown fields to exercise dogs and children.
Just minutes up the lane, Dartmoor offers wilderness, walking and adventure, while the famed South Hams beaches are just a 30 minute drive.

We were looking for a vacation location to meet up with my Mother & brother for the first time since 2020 when we saw this beautiful thatched barn conversion. It met every one of our "must have" requirements, including a "wet room" bath/shower on the lower level. When we all arrived & saw the property in person, we realised that our expectations were greatly exceeded. Our hosts, George & Rosie, went out of their way to make this a wonderful week, helping us even before we arrived, by accepting delivery and setting up a rented wheelchair, arranging a surprise birthday cake, and providing personal recommendations of restaurants etc. allowing us to pre-book several activities. They made us all feel welcome immediately upon arrival, and were always available and willing to assist with any questions. We were made to feel "part of the family". The location was perfect, being very peaceful, yet within a short walk to the village where there are great pubs & restaurants. Many other attractions are within a short drive, making this an ideal base from which to explore. In short, we can''t recommend this enough, giving the Tithe Barn a 5 Star Plus rating across the board. We will return!! Paul & Angela
Perfectly Placed between Dartmoor and the seaside

It was very comfortable, well equipped and perfectly placed between Dartmoor and the seaside. It suited all 3 generations of us very well. We will all have fond memories of an idyllic holiday and thank you for your part in that.
A definite 5 star place.

We were well looked after and the treats provided were excellent. A magnificent property that caters for all needs, fully equipped with luxurious bedrooms. The kitchen/lounge works really well. Location is excellent for travelling near and far. Over thirty years of visiting Devon and this is the best place we''''ve stayed at. We will be back.
I really did not want to leave to go back home

The location is fantastic, Ashburton is a such a thriving village with a great variety of shops from Artisan bakeries and delicious deli’s through to fish and chips takeaway’s. The cottage is just a short stroll from the village. The cottage is immaculate and thoughtfully designed to take care of your every need. Spacious bedrooms with their own en-suites, the open plan kitchen and living area is perfect to bring the family together and the games room was just cherry on the cake for our family with teenage children. The weather was fantastic whilst we were there, so we had the bifold doors open nearly all of the time and made good use of the pretty patio and excellent BBQ. George, Rosie and their family were so lovely, nothing was too much trouble. They were always around if you needed them but never intrusive at all. They provided us with delicious goodies and flowers on our arrival and Rosie even shared the most amazing blackcurrant cake she made with fruit from their own crop. That was truly delicious Rosie, thank you. We’ll be back soon, can’t wait, it’s the only holiday I have ever had where I really did not want to leave to go back home. I could have easily stayed there forever. Thank you for making everything perfect, see you again soon. Sarah Jackman
Stylish, excellent accomodation
By Letizia Foroni on 16-Sep-2022We have just completed 2 weeks in this stylish, excellent accommodation. We found it excellent even for my husband who has limited mobility. The downstairs bedroom with shower room is very accessible to disabled people and movement is easy in a wheelchair because of the available space and facilities. All rooms are very spacious and decorated with great taste! Stuart and Jane couldn’t do more to make our holiday a most enjoyable experience. The property is only 10 min walk from the centre of Ashburton which offers all required amenities with every shop a little treasure to discover.
Brilliant spacious accomodation

Brilliant spacious accommodation, tastefully decorated, all bedrooms with en-suite and a fab games room. The little extras were much appreciated too - local tea, home made jam, nice coffee, fresh bread etc. The kitchen is very well equipped and perfect for meals in. Huge utility room with washer / dryer - not that we used it but may be handy for some. Communication with George was vey prompt and easy. He was keen to ensure we had a good time and assist in any way he could. Didn’t spend a lot of time in Ashburton itself but looked to have some lovely independent shops. All in all a great place to stay and we’d highly recommend it.
