Description
Le Fournil and La Grange are a traditional stone ‘longère’ style farmhouse and its gîte, situated in a small hamlet just beyond the village of Azay le Ferron, in the heart of the French countryside. The area is on the edge of the Brenne national park, popular with birdwatchers and nature lovers.The beautiful Loire Valley is famous throughout the world for it’s many opulent Châteaux and magnificent gardens. With many nearby activities such as golf, cycling and watersports, there is something for everyone.
Le Fournil is available for lettings on it's own, with La Grange available for letting seperately to provide additional accommodation if needed by the same party. This ensures exclusive use of the pool and grounds.
Le Fournil is a 300 year old longère style farmhouse which although recently updated, retains a wealth of original features such as beams, exposed stone walls and a huge working fireplace. The salon has easy chairs and a sofa as well as a dining table which comfortably seats ten. The television room has a flat screen TV with UK satellite channels, a DVD player, and WiFi.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the usual gadgets including microwave and dishwasher. There is a separate laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a range of equipment for babies and toddlers.
Downstairs there is a double bedroom with ensuite shower room, and a twin bedroom with separate bathroom with bath. Upstairs are a further two double bedrooms, one with an ensuite bathroom, and a twin bedroom as well as a further separate shower room. The soft Egyptian cotton sheets and the tranquillity of the French countryside will ensure a perfect night’s sleep!
The large garden overlooks open farmland, and contains apple, pear and walnut trees. Each house has a paved seating area with table and chairs and barbeque for al fresco dining.
The 10 x 5 metre heated swimming pool has a large patio with comfortable sun loungers for sunbathing and relaxation. It has an electric hard pool cover to comply with current French safety regulations. The pool is heated between the 1st May and 30th September.
There is also a children’s play apparatus, and a table tennis table, boules and badminton set should you feel energetic!

The house had everything we could have possibly wanted - lots of space for relaxing, comfortable beds and a very well equipped kitchen. The outdoor space was generously equipped too and the pool was essential as the weather was very warm during our stay. Susan was great to deal with and returned the security deposit quickly. If you're thinking of booking, do it! Rating 5/5
Family holiday

Your farmhouse has been carefully modernised plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for our two family stay. Fantastic open plan kitchen going onto large living room with open fire, we had to light it. Really well equipped throughout with a very nice six ring gas cooker. It is all very well decorated to a high standard. The children loved the outdoor space and play frames. We couldn't have asked for more or for better. Le Fournil at Azay farmhouse is to be recommended.
Fantastic house and very well equipped

There were eight of us in total and we all had lovely rooms, that are very well equipped with three having en-suite bathrooms. The House has everything that you need if you want a quite relaxing break. The pool is fantastic and well looked after and an excellent temperature in July. All you require for a relaxing holiday in a lovely part of France I would recommend flying into Poitiers then hire a car. We will be back.

By Gerry on 14-Jul-2015I can''t recommend Le Fournil enough. It''s an amazing, well thought out conversion and is easily the best gite we have ever stayed in. We were very lucky with the weather and the shared pool was fantastic for the kids and adults alike. The area itself is quite rural - Azzay-le-ferron is nearby but it''s a good 20k to the nearest decent shops, but for a relaxing stay Le Fournil is hard to beat.
A Perfect Holiday
By Becky J-S on 10-Sep-2013We had the most relaxing holiday at La Grange. The house is stunning with huge gardens. The weather was so good that we spent most of the time in the pool. There''s plenty to do in the area; we went to a fantastic wildlife park and the chateau in Azay-le-ferron is just beautiful. Our only regret was leaving the bikes at home. We''ll certainly be going back (with bikes!).
Beautiful cottage and helpful owners

The cottage (La Grange) was very comfortable, and spacious (and looked great, inside and out), the rural setting beautiful and the facilities were excellent (including the heated pool). We would definitely stay there again.
