It has one large living room and lots of small cosy rooms. 12 people have plenty of space here and do not feel on top of one another. Convenient location. Set on the main road 200 yds from town centre great location, but close the big double gates and you are in a private and quiet spot, with fabulous views from the garden. There are 5 bedrooms each sleeps two people as well as a double sofa bed in the living room.

Leave ReviewGreat place for a weekend walking with friends
By Moushumi on 31-Oct-2025Perfectly located to head out walking in the beautiful countryside surrounding Bakewell or to head to the shops, cafes and restaurants of Bakewell and plenty of space for you to relax too. The owners detailed instructions on everything and tips ok places to eat out were super helpful. Our party of 10 really enjoyed our long weekend staying here. Sadly we didn’t have enough time to really get to enjoy the gin terrace garden which is a lovely unique feature - I can imagine it would be a really lovely to spend time in the summer months.
3 night stay for 5 adults and 4 children for a family celebration Victoria Cottage was ideal for this.
By Joan Hick on 25-Oct-2025The accommodation has been stylishy restored into an interesting building with an usual layout. The lounge and dining room easlly had space for all of us and, like the bedrooms and bathrooms, was clean warm and comfortable. The large modern kitchen was well equipped with more than sufficient crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils-- excellent for us as we have to cook with special dietry needs in mind. We especailly liked the art on the walls, the eclectic range of books and the piano! Communication with the owner was quick, thorough with all questions answered promptly and accurately. We recommend this cottage for any families in similar circumstances and would use Simply Owners again.

Lovely house. Loads of room. Great stay
By Nell Johnson on 28-Feb-2025We had such a fantastic stay and benefited from its fabulously central location to the town and it’s homely feel as well as it’s ability to hold the large group that we were in comfortably. Everything we needed was there and it was incredibly clean and well looked after -really recommended.

Wonderful Holiday Cottage
By Richard & Caro on 20-Dec-2024We rented Victoria Cottage over Christmas 2024 and loved every minute of it. On arrival, the cottage was beautifully lit with twinkling fairy lights outside and at least three Christmas trees in various rooms. The owners clearly went to a lot of effort to decorate the house for the festive season which meant that we really didn't have to do anything to enhance it. It was clean and tidy. The beds were well-made with beautiful crisp, white, bed linen. The house, itself, is massive. There is a bedroom on the ground floor overlooking the courtyard, and another one with single beds in on the roadside. Upstairs are (I think) another three bedrooms. In short, you can easily sleep the number of people the cottage is advertised to sleep. The kitchen is dead centre of the house and has pretty much everything you might need - a blender, mocha coffee pot, and champagne glasses among the non-standard culinary items. The house was warm and cosy over our stay. The showers delivered plenty of hot water at a strong pressure. If there was anything we couldn't find or operate, the owners were always happy to oblige with some help over a text message. Upstairs one flight of stone stairs, you'll find a large living room with a beautifully designed pitched roof and window lights. There is another stone external staircase that leads down to the courtyard and then up to a terraced garden, giving views over Bakewell. In the summer, it must be fantastic! To get to the bedrooms at the front of the house, you have to pass through a formal dining room and up another, different flight of stairs. Don't be put off by the fact that the house is on the A6 main road. It is a 30 mph speed limit and there is no discernible noise from it. The road also means you are well connected to visit Buxton and the Dales nearby. Bakewell itself is absolutely charming. There is a good selection of shops, pubs, and restaurants. The River Wye flows through over a delightful old bridge with a picturesque footpath along side. From Bakewell, there is a walking and cycling path along a Beeching-era disused railway, which is well worth exploring. A longer drive takes you up to the famous Snake Path and gorgeous Ladybower Reservoir in the High Peak. The other way, along the road towards Buxton, there is a fabulous walk through the gorge cut out by the River Wye, upstream of Bakewell. This absolutely stunning landscape is not very easy to walk, but with a good pair of wellies in the winter and an enthusiastic dog, we made our way through. It had every hallmark of being a fabulous wild swimming site for kids in the summer! To the south, we explored the Heights of Abraham in Matlock Bath, and further afield to Belper. In short, what's not to like about the amazing Victoria Cottage? Many thanks to Maggie and Tim for the opportunity to stay in their gorgeous home!

A great Christmas gathering
By Judith Suckling on 27-Dec-2024We had a great time at the cottage with 5 adults and 5 kids at the cottage in Bakewell. There was plenty of space for us all to cook a big dinner, and eat around the table and have a super chill in the massive living room after. All the bedrooms were clean and comfortable. The sheets had that hotel feeling. Great location for a good walk out to Bakewell for treats and chips. We will be back!

Brilliant family stay
By Paul Williams on 06-Oct-2023We stayed at Victoria Cottages for a family gathering and birthday weekend, 9 of us in total and there was plenty of space for us all to relax and socialise. The house is well laid out with everything you need, and is a great location and short walk to the lovely Bakewell town centre. The instructions and guides from the owner Maggie were very clear and helpful and great communication from booking to checking out, would highly recommend for a family stay in the beautiful Peak District!
