Overview
Description
Located in a delightful village in the scenic area known as ‘Swiss Normandy’, ourtraditional Norman cottage offers a perfect retreat to enjoy the tranquillity of
rural France. Berjou has a fascinating museum covering the liberation of the
village in 1944 and a shop selling a selection of groceries with an excellent bakery
whose bread, croissants and pastries are regarded as the best in the area. The
nearby towns of Condé-sur-Noireau, Pont d’Ouilly, Flers, Domfront and Falaise
offer a wide choice of bars and restaurants, shops, wonderful street markets,
supermarkets and other amenities.
Chez Nous Berjou is an excellent base for exploring the beautiful countryside by
bike, car or on foot, and is well placed to access the D-Day beaches, historic
Bayeux, the magic of Mont Saint-Michel and many other attractions. Apart from
quaint towns and spectacular panoramic views, Normandy is renowned for fine
restaurants serving delicious food, wine and, of course, the region’s famous
Calvados and Cidre!
Berjou is a perfect location for rambling through wonderful scenery, with a good
selection of delightful walks displayed on a large map in the village centre, many
right from the doorstep!
In autumn there are plenty of sweet chestnut trees and edible fungi found along
local walks, providing delicious additions to dinner.
Inside the cottage care has been taken to provide comfortable, properly
equipped accommodation to ensure you enjoy your stay. There are three
bedrooms (one on the ground floor) sleeping up to six people with towels and
bedding provided. Heating is by ceramic radiators and two wood-burning stoves.
Outside there is a large enclosed garden, a BBQ area with chimenea and off-road
parking for two cars. Well-behaved pets are welcome.
We believe our cottage, whilst simple in style, is a hidden treasure and want
guests to enjoy it as much as we do!

IMPORTANT NOTES
Chez Nous Berjou is a traditional cottage ideal for people seeking a quiet and
simple rural retreat. Whilst providing comfortable accommodation with a good
level of amenities, our cottage is not offered as a luxury stay and this is reflected
in the fees.
Please note:
• There is no dishwasher or coffee machine
• There is no swimming pool, sauna or hot tub
• A washing machine is provided, but no dryer; clothes can be dried in the
traditional manner on the outdoor washing line or on the folding rack in
the outbuilding during wet weather
• There is no TV, although the excellent broadband enables streaming if
required
• This is a 200-year-old stone cottage with exposed beams, lots of ‘nooks and
crannies’ and we do not use toxic chemicals and pesticides indoors. For
those reasons, no matter how carefully the cottage is cleaned, there are
likely to be more spiders etc than in a modern building
• The stairs to the first floor are open and quite steep, please be aware with
young children and anyone who is at all unsteady on their feet. A child
safety gate is provided to fit at the top of the stairs. The floor-level window
in the first bedroom upstairs opens outwards but has no restraining guard.
Please supervise children in this room AT ALL TIMES!
• Windows: in the traditional style, some windows open inwards at head
height.
• No smoking inside the cottage, please!
If any of the above does not suit your requirements, please consider carefully
before booking.
