Description
The house is ideal to share unique moments with your family or friends ( up to 10 people) a main house full of light with superb views from all rooms.On the ground floor : An elegant and luminous sitting decorated by blue sofas and old paintings, an expansive dining room with is wonderful bookcase, a TV room for the children or too late you know about the news and a fully furnished kitchen comes with washing machine, microwave, fridge-freezer.
On the first floor they are five cosy bedrooms tree big double bedrooms, two twin bedrooms and tree bathrooms (one double bedrooms have is private bathroom). All the rooms overlook onto the magnificent park. Out on the rear terrace you can dine under the stars or relax all the day under a centennial tree.
The private and warmed swimming pool (12X6) and its green lawn and beach chairs is waiting for you to make your holidays wonderful.
Situated between the yacht marina of Cap d'Agde and the historical Molière's town Pézenas, nearby the fishing port MARSEILLAN or BEZIERS and the "canal du midi", a few minutes drive (10 km) brings you to the mediterranean beaches (Agde, Vias, Marseillan ...)

The castle itself is beautiful, full of charm and history, and the surrounding grounds are just as stunning. We kept saying how incredible it felt to have the entire castle and property all to ourselves, it was hard to believe we could enjoy such a unique experience for a cost comparable to a regular Airbnb! We loved how peaceful it felt, yet it was only a short drive to so many amazing sites in the region. Our host, Marie-Sophie, was incredibly kind and accommodating. Her pride in the property really shines through in every detail, from the care of the rooms to the thoughtful touches throughout the estate. She made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. It was a perfect getaway, and we look back on our stay with such fond memories. We would happily return and highly recommend Château d'Hortes to anyone looking for a magical place to stay in the South of France!

By Marie Laure de MENOU on 25-Sep-2025I spent 5 days in september at the Chateau d’Hortes, together with my family; I can warmly recommend a stay at Hortes! For me, it’s the perfect combination and has everything one could wish for. The Chateau has a beautiful façade and lots of French country charm inside. It is well equipped (bathrooms, dishwasher etc), the beds are comfortable and if you need to do some work, the wireless LAN worked very well during our stay. Mobile reception is also good. But the best is maybe the huge terrace that overlooks the large and well-kept garden – perfect for meals and a glass of rosé. The pool area is secluded and the kids loved it (there’s a lot of space and confortable furnitures). But the wide and white beach at Cap d’Agde is only a 10-15 minute drive away and there are beach cafés for relaxed lunches there. MarieSophie is also the perfect host and very discreet, but she is glad to help or outing tips or good restaurant adresses if you like. We certainely will come back to Hortes next summer and, this time for one or two week !

The perfect place, authenticity, privacy and confort

The owner gave us a warm welcome and we had a marvellous family holiday in this château, which is perfect for that. Very comfortable rooms and warm, friendly spaces. We highly recommend it and are sure to return one day!

The château itself is a beautiful 19th-century French country castle, full of charm and character, and surrounded by peaceful vineyards. The highlights for us are the stunning swimming pool, perfect for relaxing in the sunshine, the palatial chateau, and the extremely well-equipped kitchen, which makes cooking and entertaining a real pleasure. The location is ideal too – close to the local market, vineyards, and an olive farm, giving a true taste of the region, which is beautiful.. A special mention to Marie Sophie, the perfect host – always available to help with any queries and happy to arrange taxis or vineyard tours. Her warm hospitality makes staying here even more enjoyable. Château Hortes offers the perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and relaxation - and all in a lovely part of France. Each visit feels special, and we’re already looking forward to returning again.
