Overview
Description
If you're looking for a comfortable, peaceful place to relax and unwind in the country, Bluebell Cottage at Rivermead Farm is perfect for you. It's a pet-free, self-contained two bedroom cottage within a converted traditional Cornish stone barn, dating back 300 years.Stay from any length of holiday from 3 nights upwards and check in and out on a day of your choice.
Bluebell Cottage is just half a mile from the A38, and close to the A30, so it's accessible, easy to get here (without having to face very narrow Cornish lanes!), and a perfect base for exploring Cornwall. The beauty is that despite being accessible, Rivermead is hidden away in the lush Glynn Valley surrounded by tranquillity and away from the hustle and bustle. Guests have access to 17 acres of private woodland, meadows, lake and almost half a mile of the beautiful River Fowey, where fishing for trout and salmon is included.
COTTAGE OVERVIEW
The accommodation is all on ground floor level with ample space to unload your car and park right outside the door. There is free BT guest broadband / wifi.
PROPERTY LAYOUT
As you enter through the front door of the cottage, you'll find a cosy sitting room off to the left with two comfy sofas, TV, Freeview and a DVD player. There's a table and chairs enough for four to enjoy dinner together, or perhaps a hearty breakfast before heading out for the day to explore beautiful Cornwall.
BEDROOMS
Bluebell Cottage has two bedrooms. There's a light, airy main bedroom with a double bed, bedside drawers, a wardrobe and dressing table. Next door is a twin room with a dressing table and hanging rail, so plenty of space to spread out if you're coming as a couple. There are hairdryers in both rooms.
KITCHEN
The galley kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils for a self-catering stay. We will provide you with a washing-up starter pack, tea towel and oven gloves; although who wants to cook on holiday? Everything you'd expect to find in the kitchen is there - electric oven and hob, fridge with ice-box, microwave, toaster, kettle, cafetiere - and perhaps some things extra, including a Cornish cream tea on arrival.
There's additional freezer space in the Information Room, as well as a washing machine and tumble dryer.
SHOWER ROOM
Bluebell Cottage has a shower room with an electric shower, WC and vanity unit. Shower room towels and a bath mat are included.
HALL & OUTSIDE SPACE
There's a great space just inside the front door for hanging coats - or sunhats and beach towels - and dumping bags and shoes. Just outside the door, you'll find your own picnic table, parasol and BBQ and the south-facing spot is quite a sun-trap in summer so it's a great place for a morning coffee, or a sun-downer.
THE GROUNDS
Some of our guests don't leave Rivermead during their stay. There are walks around the lake, bird-spotting in the hide and picnic spots in the woods where you can settle down with a good book and maybe enjoy a glass of wine. You can find your inner-child on the rope swings, have a game of boules on the court or sit by our stretch of the Fowey River and fish for salmon or trout. You might like to forage for firewood and have a camp fire at the fire pit and a bit of a sing-song!
EXPLORING THE LOCAL AREA
If you are exploring further afield, you'll have the perfect base. Rivermead is about half-way between Bodmin and Liskeard. Bodmin Moor is 5 minutes away by car, and Looe, Charlestown, Fowey and Lostwithiel can be reached in less than 20 minutes. There's a host of attractions within easy reach such as the NT gardens at Lanhydrock, Bodmin Jail, the Eden Project, Golitha Falls, Carnglaze Caverns, and Lantic Bay. You'll find a wealth of information leaflets and suggested walks in our Information Room.
To find out more about Bluebell Cottage, or any other of our 6 properties at Rivermead, please head over to our website. There are ideas for days out (even when it's wet) and lots of photos of local places to visit. Please feel free to ask us if there's anything you'd like to know. Message us or call us.
You can also follow us on Facebook and on Instagram for what's happening on site and ideas for places to go.

Leave ReviewWe had everything we needed
By Sharpe on 12-Sep-2025My brother had been to Rivermead before but this was my first visit. We really liked the setting and the grounds. Everything was so thoughtful and beautiful. The balance of nature and amenities is perfect. Also, the kitchen was so well stocked with equipment. Everything we could have needed was here. Thank you.
Accommodation in Bodmin/Looe area
By Beaven on 29-Aug-2025We were looking for accommodation in the Bodmin/Looe area and found Rivermead. The grounds were wonderful and there's lots of space to walk around. The properties seemed well spaced out to allow guests to enjoy their own space. Seeing a Kingfisher was a bonus!
