Leave ReviewWe will be back again for sure
By Mandy and Karl on 02-Aug-2025We will be back (From: West Midlands, UK) Added to our cottage guest book:- A wonderful 5 days relishing the fabulous views, all on the doorstep. Thank you Shirley and Alan for the goodies and the perfectly equipped cottage. The slow cooker was very much appreciated after a long day out walking it was a pleasure to smell our dinner all cooked and ready to eat. My only gripe is that we didn't find anything wrong !! :-) We will be back again for sure xx Additional review comments: "The perfect rural setting for walks, views to die for and all out chill" "Shirley and Alan spoilt us with this beautiful home from home a delight of a property. If you love the great outdoors and want to get away from it all then this is the ideal location, so peaceful and quiet and the owners are at hand if you should need them, lots of information inside the property about the location and all the walks either on the doorstep or a drive away, some nice pubs too" Recommendations: Lovely local fish and chips (The Roosters) great views at Talkin Fell circular and Duke of Cumberland pub stop after Hadrian's Wall and Sycamore Gap circular. Talk Tarn Lake for paddle boarding and a lovely walk around the lake too.
The Cleanest holiday cottage we have ever stayed in and a great location
By Lin and Paul on 19-Jul-2025We've enjoyed watching the antics of the sheep in the field behind the bungalow and the many blue tits (and one day, a flock of long tailed tits) in the trees and water bath to the side - lovely! The bungalow is in a great location to visit so many places. It must be the cleanest holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in !! Recommendations: Hexham esp. forum cinema and the vegetarian cafe; Carlisle Cathedral; military road drive - beautiful scenery - also drive to Barnard Castle via Alston. Geltsdale RSPB beautiful and stop at the community cafe at Hallbankgate (lovely scones). Gisland for walk along The Wall (free parking, right opposite walk) is excellent. Too many to fit in. All English Heritage sites have something to offer - super little video at Birdoswald, gives a good sense of how the wall would have looked.
** This is the best, and we have stayed in a lot **
By Gerald & Sheila Lofthouse from Huddersfield. on 26-Jun-2025This is the best property and we've stopped in a lot. We have family who live nearby and they were impressed too!! Also impressed with the welcome pack. Couldn't find fault in anything!! Enjoyed lots of lovely scenery, walking and dining.
Another enjoyable stay
By Martin and Rebecca Wheatley on 12-Jun-2025Our second very enjoyable stay, spacious, well-equipped, pristine inside and out. Great location on the edge of town, in peaceful green surroundings but also an easy walk to good shops. Great access to Hadrian's Wall and nature reserves/walking on nearby hills.
An Absolute star/extremely high standard (Stellar!) performer!
By Beth and Archie Trigg on 06-Jun-2025An absolute star/extremely high standard (stellar) performer! (From: USA) An absolute stellar (a star/extremely high standard) cottage! Best regards to Alan and Shirley for keeping such an immaculate and comfortable space. Not one complaint. We loved listening to the birds and gazing out the lounge up the hill. Don't change a thing! Continued Success!. Recommendations: ** Howard Arms, Brampton, for dinner ** Lanercost Priory cafe for lunch. ** Superb dining at Duke of Cumberland
A First Class Holiday Stay !
By Linda and David Lock on 16-May-2025Linda and David (From: Northern Ireland) A really first class holiday stay. Alan and Shirley have made it very comfortable with little extras as well. Many thanks for the welcome treats, another nice thought. We loved it here and would certainly recommend it. Recommendations: Bus to Carlisle is a good break from driving. Kirkoswald, a lovely little village. Walk Ravenbeck 4.5 miles, refreshments in the little community shop. Gelt Woods is a must. Talkin Tarn is on your doorstep. Lanercost Priory, walks and lovely lunches. Brampton serves most of your needs.
