Description
Briar Patch is the perfect base for a family of up to 6 plus a baby and adult dogs. It is a detached cottage and has a private dog-proof garden, and a gate leading to the meadow, and play area. It is kept non smoking.With two bathrooms and a full equipped kitchen, it makes a great base for a holiday in the south west, being only just over a mile from Bude, North Cornwall, and its sandy beaches and coastal path.
Having an indoor heated pool onsite shared between only 14 cottages means that you are likely to have it all to yourselves. It is open every day of the year, from 8am, closing only on New Year's Day and Christmas Day.
There is a reserved parking space a few yards from the front door, behind which is a home-from-home cottage. Ideal for a relaxing break and great for families
In Briar Patch you'll find:
2 double bedrooms and 1 twin
2 bathrooms - one with bath and shower over - the other a full-sized walk in shower room, with sets of bathroom towels provided
Open plan lounge, dining, area with adjoining fully equipped kitchen (hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave etc.)
A dog proof enclosed private garden
A gate leading onto the meadow and play are behind
A 43" smart TV in the sitting room, and second TV in one of the bedrooms, DVD Player, CD/radio/tape mini hi-fi, hairdryer etc
We have high-fibre wifi free to use
A selection of films, games and books for both adults and children
A travel cot (suitable for babies up to 18 months), highchair, bed guard and toddler step, and blackout curtain linings in all bedrooms
Socket covers & light sensitive night light kept in cottage in case your toddler needs them
Large, landscaped gardens with a BBQ in the secluded side garden, and plenty of garden furniture, with a private gate through to the open meadow, and across to the play park (Click on photos at base of page to see location of cottage)
Storage heating in all rooms, and double glazing, so its warm all year for ‘out of season’ breaks
Fully compliant with latest fire regulations ( smoke & heat alarms, emergency lighting, fire doors etc)
On site facilities:
The indoor heated pool is open every day of the year, from 8am, closing only on New Year's Day and Christmas Day.
The play area has equipment to suit all ages from toddlers through to teenagers
The games room can be used at any time ( day or night!). The pool table needs 2 x 20p's to release the pool balls.
An onsite laundry room has industrial sized washing machines and tumble dryers, that take credit card payment. (There is also a clothes horse in the cottage and washing line in garden)
Grocery deliveries can be arranged prior to your arrival
You can order home cooked food to be delivered by a local caterer.

By Kat on 01-Jul-2023We had an amazing time, the place was amazing and had everything we needed. The heated pool and games room was great and we had loads of fun. It's close to the town, beaches, eatery places, we always had plenty to do, we will definitely be coming back :)
Wonderful week in Briar Patch
By Simon on 01-Jul-2023We had a wonderful week despite the changeable weather. Katherine was very responsive and accommodating through all communications. The cottage itself suited our family of 6 and Labrador perfectly, cosy enough but with the private space for alone time too. Great garden and okay area for the kids, the added bonus of the pool which we used everyday was great especially because the weather wasn’t always agreeable. A great location for Bude, minutes away from anything you need and a great location for exploring further around Cornwall. Thank you Katherine, we’ll definitely be back when visiting Cornwall again. Perfect Cottage
By Tigan on 01-Aug-2023We have just come home from spending a week there. It was perfect in all areas, it had everything you needed in the kitchen plus more. It was really clean. The swimming pool and games room was a god send as we had 3/4 wet days. We went to the beach around 9am and then came home for lunch and spent the afternoons in the pool, park and playing table tennis. Would I book again? Absolutely! We had the best time so thank you so much for hosting us and allowing us to stay in your beautiful cottage.
Great Location
By Paul on 01-Aug-2023This cottage is in a great location, ideal for exploring the north Cornwall and Devon coastlines. The onsite, shared pool was available whenever we wanted to use it and ideal with the unsettled weather we had. The cottage itself was compact for a family of four, but had everything we needed. Katherine’s instructions before check-in were very clear and helpful, with great local recommendations (particularly the Sunday lunch at the Preston Gate Inn).
Great stay at Briar Patch
By Josephine on 01-Feb-2025We booked at the very last minute and Katherine was really accommodating. The cottage was really nice - clean, warm and had everything we needed. The pool was great and the garden was lovely. The cottage is a short walk from the local pub and a 10 minute drive to the beach and sea pool. We had a great week. Just to add that communication was brilliant and Katherine arranged for something we left behind to be posted to us at home. Really recommend it ️
