Perfect - everything we needed!

By Rose on 16-Apr-2022

We have just returned from a week staying at 7 The Drive. North Cornwall and Penstowe are very familiar to us and we frequently hire a few chalets for a big family get together. 7 The Drive was excellent gave us everything we needed - a lovely clean chalet on a slightly elevated position which then gave pretty views of and over trees. The outside seating was perfect to sit and watch the world go by. The chalet itself has a nice "beach hut vibe" which puts you in the holiday mood as soon as you arrive. As a family group, but also as just a couple, we like to explore the area but also have a few favourites we re-visit. So for restaurants I can recommend - The Deck and The Bank both in Bude; The Preston Gate Inn is a friendly pub and also does excellent food - especially Sunday lunch. For a real treat though The Farmers Arms in Woolsery is top quality. This week we came across The Electric Bakery in Bude. Fantastic artisan bakery with lovely fresh produce as they bake daily - open Wednesdays to Sundays but they often sell out apparently. As it''s not all about the food I thought it would be good to recommend some activities - locally there is the Milkey Way which is good for a family with younger children, but adjacent to that is the Wake Park which has fun water activities for confident swimmers. The Big Sheep never fails as a good day out. Near the Big Sheep is the Ultimate Adventure Centre which is brilliant for older children and teenagers (or any age group if you are brave parents) but our family favourites are Hidden Valley and Dingles Both near Launceston. Venturing further afield my son and his family have played Football Golf today near St Austell - exactly what it sounds like but great fun apparently. We visited Golitha Falls for the first time this week - reached by a lovely drive across Bodmin. Easy walking and very dog friendly. Free car park - so a cheap day out if you take a picnic but in the car park is Inkies Smokehouse offering delicious breakfast and lunches but go hungry as portions are huge. Get there early though if you want to try Inkies - it''s very popular for an out of the way place. Take a towel if you like river paddling as there is a shallow area you come across as you walk along the river. Irresistible to young children with or without wellies. Honestly there is so much to do in this area whatever the weather so enjoy!

Perfect for a family break. 5/5!

By Leah on 23-Oct-2021

PERFECT FOR FAMILY BREAK 5/5! Really lovely chalet on lovely site. Everything you could need was available in the property. We had a few rainy days and the hamper of games was much appreciated. My teenage boys who usually have their heads buried in technology played many games of chess together. Kilkhampton is a lovely little village. We had pizza from Ape Pizza which was lovely and also ate in the London Inn where they were very friendly (it’s also lovely and warm in there). Great communication from Jane also.
