Description

Nestled in beautiful countryside on the North Devon/Cornwall border, and set around its own picture-perfect lake, Mill Farm is a tranquil rural retreat, and Kingfisher Cabin is one of just three, luxury, holiday properties sharing this idyllic spot.

This spacious, lodge-style property has two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and one with two singles, plus a modern shower room and it makes the most of its prime, lakeside location with a living area that boasts an entire front wall of glass.
This means you can take in those lake views whilst treating yourself to a fresh coffee from the Tassimo machine in the well-equipped kitchen, enjoying a delicious meal in the light and airy dining area, or simply relaxing on one of the comfortable sofas in the cosy lounge.
(Shared laundry facilities are available).

This stunning waterside position is enhanced even further by your very own private garden. So you can step out onto your spacious, decked veranda, complete with garden furniture and BBQ for alfresco dining and across the lawn to watch the wildlife that inhabits the lake. (The garden is fenced for safety to a height of approx. 1m but without spoiling the view).

You are also welcome to enjoy our extensive grounds and a walk around the lake will bring you to the 'Riverside Retreat', a delightful building with table and seating, which looks out over both the lake and also the River Waldon which borders the grounds. Kingfishers are often spotted darting along the river from this spot.

Continue on your walk and you will come across two fishing decks, (fishing is exclusivley for guests), and another couple of lakeside seats, then eventually, you will reach the fields where you will find our friendly alpacas.

The alpacas are very nosey and will often come over to say hello, and as part of your stay we offer you the opportunity to meet and feed the boys during one of our 'Alpaca Experiences'.
As well as the alpacas, the fields are also where you will find our campfire spot, tucked away in a sheltered dip. With covered seating, adorned with twinkling fairy lights, a fire-bowl, we provide everthing you need for an evening under the stars, including the hot chocolate and marshmallows!

Finally, at the top of the field you will find another picnic bench and it is in the perfect spot to take in the spectacular views of the glorious countryside while you enjoy a glass of wine and watch the alpacas playing and the sun go down.

Situated on the outskirts of the charming village of Bradworthy, just a 5 min stroll to the village pub and shops, we are also well placed for the coast, (our nearest beach is less than 10 miles away at Sandymouth), Tamar Lakes Activity Centre, (a 10 min drive), and being on the Devon/Cornwall border, we are also less than 25 mins from the fabulous seaside towns of both Bude and Westward Ho!

Location Cleanliness Facilities Service / Staff 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent 4 - Good 5 - Excellent Would you recommend this property to other travellers? Yes Comments about this property Good accommodation in a good area. Only suggestion for future is the consideration of laundry facility for guests (even a communal option) especially during winter period. This would allow cleaning of personal effects but also cleaning of tea towels etc for hygiene reasons.

Location Cleanliness Facilities Service / Staff 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent Would you recommend this property to other travellers? Yes Comments about this property We absolutely loved the style of the accommodation, and the view over the lake was just so relaxing. You’ve really thought of everything and are fantastic hosts. We loved being able to look at and walk the alpacas! It really was just what we needed and we will definitely be back! Tips for other travellers As well as the accommodation being well appointed, you’ve also got a pub and local supermarket within a 5 minute walk. Gill and Neil are happy to suggest different ideas for things to do and you have Bude and Westward Ho! Within half an hours drive. We also took our bikes to The Weir cafe and rode along the canal to Bude. It really is a great location for exploring North Devon and Cornwall.
