Description

Superb setting, beautifully converted to the highest standard, but still keeping some of the original features and its charm. Bishops is an ideal holiday for peace and tranquility in a unique/quirky grade II listed building but only a short drive to all the amenities and attractions this outstanding area provides. The chapel has a wood burner, an electric Aga, full central heating and underfloor heating in the children's bunk bedroom and family bathroom making it really cosy for those romantic winter breaks.

The south facing garden overlooks farmland and the west facing decking is delightful, you can watch the sun set over the farmland and star gaze the unpolluted skies. The decking, patio and garden are all accessed directly from the lounge, double bedroom, bunk room and kitchen. There are windows (some original) on all four aspects of the chapel throwing shadows of the gothic windows on walls and ensuring this is a very light and airy accommodation. Home comforts are provided for a comfortable stay, these include BT Vision TV, DVD player and a wide selection of DVDs, radio, CD player, docking station and CDs, free Wi-Fi access, children's and adult games and books. All linen, towels, heating and first basket of logs are included in the price.

DOGS
Is Bishops Right for Your Dog?

We want you and your dog to be safe and have a wonderful time at Bishops. Due to the size of Bishops Chapel, we can only accommodate a maximum of 2 small dogs or 1 medium-sized dog per stay. We recognise that the garden is not fully enclosed so may not be suitable for every dog. For the benefit of you, your dog, future guests and our neighbours there are some things that you will need to consider before booking:

• The garden is private and mostly enclosed. However, the veranda looks out over farmland and has a fence which is approximately 1 metre high, with gaps between each fence post. We also have a metre high gate above a flight of outside steps, and a low sloping roof which an energetic dog could jump onto and then onto the steps. Is your dog likely to jump over this fence or gate, or wriggle through the fence posts? If yes, then we recommend that Bishops Chapel is not be suitable for your dog (it’s not easy for us to modify the fence or gate to make it safer). Please see photos for more information.

• We request that dogs are not left unattended at Bishops Chapel.

• Please only bring dogs to Bishops Chapel who are house-trained, and will not bark continuously. We are in the country, with few neighbours but other animals do venture into the garden – the cat across the way does occasionally wander in and some dogs may not like this. Our neighbours across the way are key workers who work shifts, so if your dog is likely to bark a lot it may cause them to be disturbed.

• We are located on a quiet road, with occasional traffic. To keep your dog safe from passing traffic, please ensure your dog is kept on a lead when leaving Bishops Chapel.

• We ask that you do not allow your dog to go onto the beds or sofas. We know from experience that this can be a battle for some, so please cover the sofa or bed with a blanket if your dog needs to be comfy on the bed or sofa!

(We charge a fee of £30 per dog per stay to cover cleaning costs. This will be included in the total cost.)

MINIMUM STAY
Please note: there is a minimum 7 nights stay during Summer school holidays

WORKCATION
Fancy a walk on the beach following your working day? Or to go surfing? Perhaps you fancy a change of scene or quiet-time and space to work for a particular deadline. For guests who would like to combine working from home and holiday activities, we can provide:

• Broadband bandwidth to cater for video calls without interruption
• A large monitor, mouse and keyboard to connect to your own laptop
• A colour printer/scanner/copier (with paper and ink cartridges)
• Cabling
• Adjustable office chair
• Large dining table that can be used as a desk

The layout of the lounge, bedrooms and garden means you can work while your loved ones entertain themselves elsewhere in the Chapel or grounds.

Note: working from home equipment is provided on request.

Amazing place

By Juiie on 01-Apr-2023

Bishops Chapel exceeded our expectations we couldn’t fault it. Everything you need is there. Lots of little touches to make you feel at home. The setting is very peaceful and would thoroughly recommend. The owner Tracy went above & beyond. We are back again in 2 weeks time as we loved it so much. A beautiful place to relax in.

We had a wonderful time with friends. Bishops met more than our expectations and we shall return. Tracy was always available at the end of a phone .

Amazing converted chapel in a great location and with lots of character

By Parit on 22-Oct-2022

Bishop's Chapel is a beautifully converted chapel in a very nice, peaceful rural location just outside Bude. It was spotlessly clean and well-equipped with great views of farmland. The owner was quick to reply to emails and was friendly. It has lots of character and history, which we loved. We would definitely return!

Owner response on 28-Oct-2022

Thank you so much for your kind words, Parit. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Bishops Chapel and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
