Perfect place to stay to explore this amazing region of France with stunning views down to the Dordogne river.
The property has an open plan dining and lounge area with TV channels available in English and French. There is a DVD player, smart TV, super-fast wifi and a stereo. The fully-equipped kitchen has a cooker, gas hob, microwave, toaster, washing machine, kettle and coffee machine. Upstairs is the ensuite master bedroom with wardrobe, chest of drawers, vanity table and air conditioning. There are also mosquito screens on the windows. The ensuite has a bath with shower over, toilet and basin. The second double-bedroom has similar features with an ensuite shower room. The twin bedroom has an ensuite shower room. The property has patios to the front and back allowing guests to have sunshine all day. The front patio has views down to the river. The back patio has a BBQ. The gîte has access to the shared 12 x 6 m outdoor heated swimming pool (open from May to October) and the indoor games room for those rainy days. There is a large shared garden and dedicated parking space. Please note that during high season from 4th July to 29th August changeover day is Saturday.
The gîte is fully equipped to provide anything a guest would need. Linens and towels are provided. I also provide guests with towels they can take off the property if they want to go to one of the aquatic parks or beaches. Rainy days happen but we have a games room open from 10am to 6pm with table tennis, table football and other games to keep everyone occupied. The gîte has a fire alarm, carbon monoxide alarm and fire extinguishers. Cleaning is included in the price however I do ask that guests leave the gîte clean and tidy. If excess cleaning is required this will be taken from the damages deposit at a rate of €18 an hour.
There is plenty to see and do in this area. You can travel up to the Caves of Lascaux and see the cave paintings - this is a must see for any traveller to this area. Tours are available in multiple languages and can be easily booked online. Or explore Chateau Milande, home to the singer Josephine Baker. There are many UNESCO World Heritage sites and pretty Bastide towns to explore along with the famous Sunday market at Issigeac. . For families there are great leisure and aqautic parks, pony trekking and water sports. There are opportunities to swim in the Dordogne with local beaches. For the more adventurous you can hire bikes in Lalinde and explore the kilometres of cycle tracks around the region. For the very brave why not cycle to Bergerac? In the summer months there is a free foot ferry from Traly across the river to Mouuzac which has a fabulous restaurant by the river. The ferry is a five minute walk from here.
Although we are rural we have plenty of facilities nearby in the town of Lalinde, ten minutes away, which has a supermarket and plenty of restaurants. For quieter spots why not cross over the river to the pretty village of Tremolat for lunch at Le Bistro just five minutes away. There is a night market in Traly every Tuesday evening.
Check in is from 4 pm to 8pm. If you arrive after this please let me know. Check out is no later than 10 am on the day of departure. In the high season from 4th July to 29th August changeover day is Saturday.
Le Tabac is part of Cours du Fleuve which can be easily found on google maps. From the D29 take the road signposted to Calès/Traly.
A deposit of 25% is required at the time of booking. The full balance is due at least six weeks before arrival along with a €350 damages deposit. Please note the damages deposit will be refunded within seven days of your departure as long as the gîte is left clean and tidy with no damage.

Leave ReviewFriendly and patient hosts
By Tim McIvor on 05-Sep-2025In August 2025 we returned for a second year to Cours du Fleuve. The new owners, Katy and Steve, are doing a wonderful job. They are friendly and endlessly patient hosts who maintain a high standard of accommodation; and a close attention to detail and comfort for guests. The gites, pool and garden are first rate. The - complex sits in the bend of a river that winds through the most beautiful of French countryside. The delightful village of Tremolat is close by, and a little further away are places, like Limeul and Lalinde, that surely deserve more than one visit. We cannot wait until our next visit. Thanks so much to you both for a memorable visit. Tim and Paula

A return visit
By Pat Perry on 25-May-2025A return visit to Cours du Fleuve after 5 years. Delighted to meet the very friendly new owners, Katy and Steve. A great place to stay with clean, well equipped gites in the most perfect location. The grounds are amazing with lots of space to hide away and read or doze. And a perfect swimming pool - heated, sparkling water, great loungers and peace and tranquility. Katy is helpful, knowledgable about the area and great fun! The perfect host. We wish them well with their new venture and look forward to a return trip.
