Overview
Description
Holidays can be taken all the year round in Calvisson, it enjoys a micro climate unique to a small area of land between the Cevennes and the Mediterranean. Calvisson is a beautiful medieval village with many eateries, shops, a post office, banks, a winery, a medical center and pharmacy etc. There is a wonderful large open-air swimming pool and todler padding pool in the village for the public to use. There is a great cycle path that leads to Sommières or towards Nîmes. The local market is fantastic and is on Sundays in the heart of the village. The nearest beaches are 30 mins away (Grau du Roi, Palavas, La Grande Motte)Imagine Winter, not with grey skies, wet streets and biting cold winds, but azure blue skies, warming sunshine, walking on the hills, foraging amongst French markets before returning to your delightfully renovated three storey Provincial cottage complete with log fire and central heating. Summers are just as well catered for with the bassin (small pool) and outdoor terrace beckoning after a day on the beach. Or, you may prefer visiting the historic Roman city of Nimes or the Duchy town of Uzes; or horse riding in The Camargue.
The house itself is elegant French living with the advantages of modern facilities. The main open plan living area opens onto the courtyard. There is an extra toilet on this level. The two double bedrooms each have their own en-suite bathroom, the main bedroom enjoying a small balcony overlooking the courtyard and bassin (plunge pool). The house has been decorated in neutral colours to reflect the internal stone walls and to enhance the antiques of the region which form part of the interior design of the home.
There is a garage on the ground level to the house, where the washing machine, cleaning products and equipment, barbecue, parasol, boules and dust bins are stored. There are 4 bicycles here too.

Leave ReviewOur third visit to a beautiful house
By Sue Luff on 30-Jul-2025The house is serene and beautifully presented, situated in a lovely little town. The accommodation offers all we could ask for with high end decor throughout. Cool in the summer heat due to the thick stone walls of the elderly property. A delight to stay in, generous room for four occupants.

Beautiful house with superb finishings
By Evelyne on 26-Jul-2017We had the most extraordinary week at 37 Rue Baratier. The home is the most charming, authentic, wi derful place with beautiful finishings. We've especially enjoyed the large stone finished walk in shower and will miss this when we return to New York. The courtyard with the dipping pool and fountain was a lovely and welcome respite from the heat.
