A Little Bit About Carcassonne
The fortified city of Carcassonne has long been considered impregnable to historical invasions due to the size and thickness of the walls surrounding it. Different parts of the wall vary in size which brings light to the city's many different rulers and renovations that were made. Despite this, the city has been through several takeovers throughout history, including having a role in crusades which influenced the language spoken in the city centuries ago.
There are two parts to the city, the fortified city and the lower town. Both offer a wide range of activities and places to visit. The lower town offers a high street full of French amenities, whereas the fortified city is full of museums and historical sites to visit either alone or with a guide.
The fame of Carcassonne hasn’t just been confined to the town itself, the well-known board game, named after the city, took a lot of inspiration from the historical and current state of Carcassonne
