About Ty Cwch
Ty Cwch is an award‑winning, architect‑designed boathouse on the Ceredigion coast in Cardigan Bay. Featured on Channel 4’s Britain’s Best Beach Huts, S4C, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Coast Magazine and the Rough Guide to Wales, it suits active families, friend groups, clubs and anyone who enjoys simple comfort, coastal adventure and shared time together.
Step from the boathouse onto a quiet Welsh beach where dolphins are often seen from the beach and seals pup in the Autumn. Three heated sleeping pods, a fully equipped social kitchen and outdoor spaces that open to the valley create a relaxed basecamp for up to 12 guests. Launch kayaks from the doorstep, walk the Welsh Coast Path, watch for wildlife, then gather around the firepit as the light fades.
Guest review
“Ty Cwch really is a little slice of heaven, it’s so brilliant that we ended up going twice this summer. The coast path in both directions is utterly stunning, the beach whether crashing waves or calm and flat is an utter joy, the seals bobbing and watching you is something you’ll never forget and the cafe does a great hot chocolate.
The house is perfect whether for a small group (our first visit) or a family gathering (our second), superbly kitted out so you don’t want for anything yet unique enough that you, and the small ones, don’t feel it’s too boringly like home!”

Our stay was care free from the moment we arrived.
By Stacey Oconnor on 17-Aug-2023Our stay was care free from the moment we arrived. From the prompt tesco delivery on arrival, the well equipped kitchen and the beautiful location, helped along with 5 days of beautiful weather. We explored the coastal path from our door and were blessed with a pod of dolphins passing the bay on our final morning. Thanks also to the locals for their help and making us welcome. The containers are a genius idea and we couldn't recommend more highly.
We loved our stay here
By Rachel Habershon on 15-Jul-2022We loved our stay here. We were 3 families and there was plenty of room for us all. The beds are comfy, the shower is good and the kitchen really well-equipped. It’s in the most beautiful part of the world..we enjoyed walks right from the door (especially to Llangranog) as well as a dolphin spotting boat trip from New Quay and local gin tasting…and there really are seals in the local bay:)
Wow
By Malisa Payne on 29-Jun-2023Wow! We had such a remarkable stay! We fit three families, 6 adults and 6 kids. There was plenty of room for us to share meals and enjoy the cabin. The location was amazing with amazing views. The pods and bed were quiet and comfortable. We loved the local beach and cafe. The coastal walk from the local beach is one of the most stunning walks I’ve ever done. The kids were able to hike it as well. We couldn’t have had a better time. One of our favorite trips.
Last week we had our annual away days and we think it was the best one yet!
By Julia Pardoe on 16-Jun-2025We had the most wonderful few days at Tŷ Cwch. We are a small business that had our annual away days and wanted to do something much less corporate. We had mixed weather but when the weather was good the boathouse was a great base for us to go on walks and a few of us swam in the sea in the mornings. We had quite a bit of rain but the set up of the boathouse meant we were able to use the outside spaces without getting wet! The infrared heaters in the main outdoor spaces are fantastic, as is the provision of the blankets. The kitchen was wonderfully well equipped and we had everything we needed. The small lounge also has a comfy sofa and chairs and a nice selection of games too. The rooms are definitely a step up from most 'hostel' type accommodation and the mattresses were really comfy. Nigel's communciation throughout has been so helpful and his recommendations for the area were great too. We went to the local farm shop for lots of the food we cooked. I think we might be looking to return next year it was such a success! Rooms: 5/5Service: 5/5Location: 5/5
Father & son adventure
By Ed Griffiths on 20-Apr-2025We have just had a father and son adventure break for 2 nights. Enjoyed the first sea swims of the year and cliff top walks to New Quay. Then crash out in our bunk beds. There is something very special about this place.
