Overview
Description
Field BeckSet in a quiet lane on the edge of this delightful village, Field Beck overlooks the medieval Priory of Cartmel and is the sort of Georgian house that Jane Austen might have lived in. It is Grade II Listed and all its light and airy rooms catch he sun and have lovely views.
The house has been lovingly conserved and furnished with antique and vintage items to keep its historic character. Inspired by our stays in Landmark Trust properties, we installed modern comforts discreetly. If you like charming (but comfortable!) old houses, you will love Field Beck.
On the ground floor is: a sitting room, with wood-stove, a dining room, a scullery/boot room and a kitchen/breakfast room which features original 1950s stainless steel units.
On the first floor are 3 bedrooms: 1 twin and 2 doubles (one with its own washbasin), and a bathroom. Above is a large attic with an extra TV.
Beneath the house are the original cellars with stone flagged floors, and a games room with dartboard, snooker and football tables. There is also an extra loo and utility room
Field Beck is surrounded by a large and beautiful walled garden with a pond and stream. The patio is a real sun trap – perfect for barbeques.
The house will accommodate 6 people very comfortably. We offer discounts for smaller groups. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
We have private parking for two cars.
Despite Field Beck's quiet position, Cartmel village square, with its famous pubs and restaurants, is only two minutes walk away.

Leave ReviewRight in the heart of the village
By Carol on 12-Sep-2025We have just returned from a week's stay at Field Beck which is in a great location within Cartmel. The house has incredible views especially of the Priory (even when it is drizzling and then a rainbow over the Priory). John is very helpful before, during and after your stay. It is obviously a family home with everything you need to hand and the gardens are a wonderful place to sit & relax and listen to the birds. Cartmel is a great village to explore with excellent food choices and interesting trails. It is also well located to explore further afield. All in all, a great week away!
Amazing house in the centre of Cartmel
By Benjamin on 17-Jul-2025The house is absolutely amazing with lovely rear gardens to sit in and enjoy a few drinks. The house is well equipped and very clean! We have stayed here 2 years on the run now for the cartmel races! It’s a 5 minute walk to the track with some amazing Restruants round. John is also very helpful! Thankyou once again John Look forward to staying next year.
Fabulous week at Field Beck. The house and garden were an absolute delight.
By Alison on 04-Jul-2025We loved everything about the property including the outlook to the priory. The garden was amazing with lots of lovely plants and loads of apple trees. Lovely area to sit and very private.
A wonderful week!
By Robert Ellen on 02-May-2025We have just had the most wonderful week at Field Beck. The house is superb, really interesting and well equipped and it provides a great base to explore Cartmel and the wider area. The garden is also just brilliant and we really enjoyed our time looking out at Cartmel Priory. Blessed with very good weather for the week it could not have provided a better setting. Everything was left beautifully for us on arrival, clear instructions on everything and we felt the house was exactly as described in the comprehensive information we had ahead of our stay. Would definitely recommend a visit and we will be back ourselves for sure!
