Description
Rex Officio is a modern conversion with views across open farmland to the rear, only 4 miles by road from Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, but can be walked by the more adventurous across the downs. It is adjacent to our larger property, Ex Officio and often visitors hire it to accommodate parents or friends who wish to be near. Despite our remoteness, a short drive will take you to the seaside towns of Weymouth and Portland or in the other directions to Studland and Swanage, We are also central to the market towns of Wareham and Blandford and our county town, Dorchester. We have a very friendly and successful pub, serving good food. Please be aware that only vodafone mobiles may work, but there is wi-fi in the cottage so wi-fi calling will work if your mobile has that feature.Weekly lets run from SATURDAY to SATURDAY, although we can be flexible if necessary.
Please enquire about short breaks which are dependent on the season and/or late availability and are priced accordingly to the number of nights.

Myself and Terry have enjoyed many long rambles and tasty pub lunches. The perfect combination. By Angela & Matt on 02-Aug-202526th July to 2nd August 2025 We have returned for another /week/ with our little Staffie bitch Shadoe, after having spent a week here July 2024 so I think that speaks for itself. We love the location and the peace and tranquillity of the countryside. It’s the perfect base to relax and unwind on some days with a bar-b-que in the evening and also close enough to explore the wonderful beaches and Lulworth Cove. The cottage has everything required for our stay and our little dog enjoys basking in the sunshine in the garden. The owners, Rosemary and Terry, are lovely and always close to hand if needed but also give you your own space to get on and enjoy your stay. The lovely gesture of the flowers on the table, the milk and chocolate cream cake in the fridge was very thoughtful and much appreciated. We will definitely return some time next year. By Richard Sykes on 12-Jul-202528th June – 12th July 2025 After the disappointment or having to cancel my proposed holiday here in Dorset in 2024 it’s been great to be able to stay at Rex Officio again this year. Even the weather has played it’s part in making this another enjoyable holiday! As always it’s been a pleasure to meet up with Rosemary and Terry again and to be able to use their lovely holiday cottage as a base for exploring this beautiful part of the countryside. I certainly hope to repeat the experience again next year health permitting. Thank you very much for making Rex officio available as an ideal base for my holiday and for your friendship whilst I’ve been here. Richard Sykes Beighton, Sheffield. P. S. By Jan&Alan on 28-Jun-2025We’ve had a lovely week here. The weather has been kind which helps when you have two springer spaniels!! The cottage has everything you need, the shower is powerful and the bed absolutely superb. We are now talking about getting a superking for ourselves. The village is charming and just perfect for a quiet escape. We even saw a hedgehog about 10pm most nights. The hosts, Rosemary & Terry are just so friendly and helpful, a proper Dorset couple. There is so much more we can explore. I feel we will return if our health permits. Thank you for a lovely time Jan & Alan Taunton, Somerset

By Fiona on 16-Apr-2024Very comfortable and spacious with views to the surrounding ridge and village. Close to Lulworth and the other areas we wanted to visit. Lovely walk to the coast from the front door and the pub is five minutes walk away. Rosemary and her husband were very friendly and helpful. Would happily stay again.
