The property is situated 20 minutes from Beaune, the wine capital of France, 40 minutes from Dijon, world famous for its mustard. Dole, the birthplace of Louis Pasteur is just 30 minutes up the road, whilst Chalon sur Saone, a lovely town with a medieval square overlooked by the 11th century Cathedral St. Vincent and full of bijou boutiques, bars, restaurants and much more, is 20 minutes up the road. Switzerland is just on the doorstep - Geneva being about an hour and a half away.
In Chalon sur Saone there is an olympic sized public swimming pool (budgie smugglers only guys!) that has slides and a wave pool, also in town bowling, go-karting, golf and plenty of shops to keep the ladies occupied. Don't worry guys, there are plenty of bars to wait in!
About 10 minutes outside of Chalon you will find Lac de Laives, the nearest thing to a seaside you can get so far from the coast. It's great for a family day out and offers a restaurant/bar, snack bar, pedalos and canoeing. There is a small beach area with a roped off shallow area for young children. It is also life guarded. The lake is surrounded with large shady trees under which you can sit and enjoy your picnic or barbeque.
Closer to home, fishing is abundant with Verdun sur le Doubs, the nearest small town just 10 minutes away, being the confluence of 3 rivers, Le Doubs, Le Petit Doubs and La Saône. In Verdun there are a few bars and restaurants. There is also a supermarket, filling station, bank and a public open air swimming pool (budgie smugglers guys!) which is spotlessly clean and has a bar:snack bar nearby. There is even a vet, should you want to bring your pet with you.
The nearest village, Ciel, has a good quality old fashioned butchers shop, a boulangerie, hairdressers, corner shop and a restaurant, La Marmite (cooking pot).
