The Summer House - 2 Bedroom (Sleeps 5) Cottage in Chalon-Sur-Saône

Situated in Southern Burgundy, this small but beautifully formed cottage offers a gateway to the wine regions of France and to a superb selection of regional and these days, international inspired food.
The accommodation sleeps five and comprises a double bedroom and a second bedroom with a bunk bed - double bed on the bottom and single on top. The living room has a TV with English free view Sky, DVD player and English DVD's, kitchen/diner with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, gas hob and electric oven. The outside door leads out onto a terrace, offering comfortable al fresco dining. and views over fields, the hills of Beaune and fabulous sunsets. One side of the garden is gravel and the other, grass. A gate leads to the private parking area. Everything is fenced and gated, safe for children and dogs. A charcoal barbeque is provided along with a wood granule pizza oven. You will have the sole use of a full sized pool (salt, not chlorine) 7m x 4m and 1.25 deep throughout making it ideal for pool games - nobody has the disadvantage of the dreaded deep end!!! The pool area is fully fenced with child proof locking on the gates, complying fully with French laws concerning pools.
The house is equipped with Wi-Fi, French TV, DVD player and DVD's, books, fridge/freezer, oven, hob, microwave oven, toaster, electric kettle, coffee percolator, and plenty of crockery, cutlery and cookware. A cot and high chair are available and all bed linen and towels, including beach towels for the pool are included. There is also a wood burner installed so the house is rentable throughout the whole year.
It is located in a rural area, surrounded by working farms and woodland but close to local amenities in the nearby town of Verdun sur le Doubs where you will find a supermarket, bank (with ATM 24/7), service station (24/7), vet, bakeries and various different bars and restaurants. Verdun sur le Doubs is the confluence of three rivers, The Doubs, The Petit Doubs and The Saone. Here you will find La Capitainerie (where the rental boats stop overnight) an open air bar/small restaurant where you can sit and watch the happenings on the river whilst sipping a glass of chilled wine and/or having a light lunch, a very peaceful haven where we go quite often in the summer months.
Not far are the towns of Chalon sur Saone, Beaune, Dijon, Macon, Nuits Saint George. You're spoilt for choice. About 1.1/2 hours away is Switzerland and also, starting at Macon to the south, the Beaujolais wine region. Chalon sur Saone is about 20 minutes away by car and offers a large selection of shops, bars and restaurants offering a selection of local and varied nationalities of cuisine.
If you come by ferry or tunnel, the motorway starts directly at the port of Calais and it's motorway all the way to Beaune, which is about 20 minutes away from the cottage Lyon Airport and Geneva Airport are both about 1.1/2 hours away, Lyon is more user friendly and more direct.
The Summer House is ideal for families and friends, foodies and fun lovers. fishermen and bon viveurs.
