Description

La Maison de La Ferme is a luxury 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom single storey farmhouse situated on the home farm which historically supplied produce to the château. During the renovation our aim was to retain the period charm of a french farmhouse, whilst adding stylish touches including a cast iron roll top bath, a solid Indian Rosewood kitchen with natural stone worktops, Leisure range cooker and plenty of period furniture. The front of the house comprises 2 bedrooms and a family bathroom. The first bedroom has a king size bed, large wardrobe and semainier, the second has two single four poster iron beds and chest of drawers. The bathroom comprises a sink, walk in shower with stone tiles, a toilet and of course the roll top. All rooms along the front of the building have a view out onto our very pretty hedge of roses. The rear of the property comprises of the third bedroom, also a with king size bed and large wardrobe, a second separate toilet and a shower room.

La Maison also benefits from its own private swimming pool (10m x 5m x 1.4m) with decked terrace and loungers, set in a sheltered yet sunny walled garden. As well as the terrace, there are a number of seating areas to choose from whether your mood is for sun or shade. These include a pretty gravelled courtyard with table and chairs and views of the beautiful gatehouse, a covered stone 'abri' overlooking the pool with chic outdoor lounge furniture and a large open sided barn providing plenty of shade.

A peaceful haven

After missing out on a break for 2 years we made the journey to Domaine de la Prise and found a perfect haven in the French countryside. The property is situated in the grounds of the main house but completely private. The rooms are large and beautifully appointed and the private pool is contained in a spacious courtyard with a covered terrace for shelter from the sun. We ate most of her meals by the pool and enjoyed the peace and quiet and clear night skies. You are a short drive of many towns with restaurants, shopping etc. and the Atlantic shore is not far distant. We hope to return in the future.
