Walking to the Village (5-10 Minutes)
The beauty of staying at Tythe Barn is that you can truly park the car and forget about it. To reach the village centre:
The Route: Exit the barn and head down the private lane past Old North Chew Farm.
The Lane: Follow the road (Norton Lane) for a few hundred yards. It’s a quiet, scenic stretch often frequented by local horses and walkers.
Entering the Village: As the lane meets North Chew Terrace, walk along a few hundred yards and you’ll see the Queens Arms directly ahead—a perfect spot for a riverside drink.
The High Street: Turn left from the pub to find the Co-op supermarket, Moondance Café, Lazy Lobster and a range of shops.
Local Tip: If you're heading out for dinner at The Pelican or The Bear & Swan, the walk is well-lit but we recommend bringing a torch (provided in the hallway) for the shorter, unlit section of the farm lane at night!

Since you are on the northern edge of the village, these are your closest spots:
Closest Pub: The Queens Arms (approx. 5-minute walk). Great outdoor seating by the Chew.
Best Breakfast: Moondance Café (approx. 7-minute walk). Famous locally for their cakes and delicious cakes. The Lazy Lobster (approx. 8-minute walk). Booking is essential!
The Essentials: The Co-op is open until 10 PM daily for any last-minute supplies.
Recommended "Doorstep" Walk
If you want to stretch your legs without heading to the shops, turn left out of the farm instead. This takes you deeper into the countryside toward Knowle Hill. It’s a bit of a climb, but it offers the absolute best panoramic view of Chew Valley Lake and the Mendip Hills.
Entering through Tythe barn front door you will find a spiral staircase (not suitable for children , pets or guests with restricted mobility) leading to the private, first floor accommodation. Light and airy , open plan accommodation with bedroom, sitting room and kitchen . There is a spacious modern bathroom with large bath and rain shower above, with handheld shower head also, heated towel rail.
Allocated free parking directly outside Tythe barn, on the private drive . Good Wifi. TV with Freeview channels.
Please note due to the spiral staircase the apartment is unsuitable for children , pets or guests with restricted mobility.

popular group holiday let, Oak Barn. While it is usually quiet during the week, there is often a lively atmosphere on Friday and Saturday nights due to guests celebrating. If you are a light sleeper or seeking total silence on the weekends, this may not be the best fit for you."
