Description

Stonehouse Farm is nestled peacefully on the moorside above the tiny hamlet of Fangdale Beck. It is surrounded by spectacular views down the valley and up towards the Cleveland Hills. There is immediate access to the moorland footpaths with a wide range of rides or cycles along the many bridleways and byways of the North York Moors National Park. Adjoining the original farmhouse, but completely private, exposed stone and oak beams add to the holiday property’s charm and character. By separate arrangement, there is land available for grazing up to 4 horses, so you don’t have to leave them behind. I’m afraid we no longer accept dogs.

You have your own garden and patio / BBQ area, table and chairs, with incredible views across the moors and valleys. Perfect for relaxing after a day out and about. The NY Moors national park is a stunning and varied area to explore with so much to see and do. You can visit ancient market towns with restaurants, farmers markets, inns and tea rooms lining cobbled streets. Or discover stately homes, abbeys, historic castles and splendid gardens. The coast is 45 minutes away, with excellent fossil hunting, surfing and swimming. The running, walking and mountain biking is fantastic, on surprisingly quiet, varied and stunning moorland tracks and trails. If you love museums, we are less than an hour to York, where you can visit amongst many, the Viking and National Railway Museums and a range of theatres. Also Whitby, Beamish, Lightwater Valley, the James Cook Museum, MIMA arts centre and a long list of other amazing days out are available, all using the barn as your base. If you enjoy your food, this is a really great area catering for a range of tastes and budgets. Amazing Whitby fish and chips to Michelin star restaurants and a wide range of really excellent food pubs in between.

Facilities included in your holiday include; • Electric cast iron wood burner • Electricity, full central heating, bed linen and towels included • Travel cot • High chair •TV •WIFI • DVD • Microwave • Washer/dryer •Fridge/freezer •Large established lawned garden, patio/furniture •62 acres of natural pastureland with orchard swing and outside toys • Barbecue • Parking (4 cars) • Secure Cycle storage • Natural spring water supply • No smoking or pets • Fire safety equipment (alarms, fire blanket, fire extinguisher, fire door) • Carbon monoxide alarm • Saturday to Saturday , or will consider other arrangements NB: Brooks and stone walls in grounds.

Idyllic retreat

By Alison Gorman on 17-Oct-2020

A lovely, fully equipped barn In a peaceful idyllic setting. Views are amazing and barn is located in a peaceful area, great for walks and within easy reach to many attractions. The barn itself was clean and decorated to a high standard and had everything you need for your stay, lovely power shower, utensils and plenty of hangers, every effort was made to make sure your stay was comfortable. Nearby, plenty of walks. Visited Whitby, Robin hoods bay, Nunnington Hall national trust, Dalby forest. Lovely picturesque village of Helmsley nearby with plenty of eating places. Jo and John kept their distance, but were on hand should you need them. Definitely worth another visit 10/20/2020 at 12:52 PM You responded on 10/20/2020 at 8:14 PM Alison, Nigel hi, Thank you for taking the time to submit your review.
