Description
Welcome to La Libellule!….a little slice of heaven in the rolling Dordogne hills of the Perigord-Limousine National Park.
The apartment has a large terrace for outdoor dining and bbqs or just relaxing on the sofa watching the beautiful sunsets, The terrace has panoramic views over the Dordogne countryside. It’s so peaceful and tranquil, the perfect place to re connect with nature, but at the same time a great place for the whole family with the pool and grounds for you to explore.
. We are at the end of a long track without main roads, but close enough to amenities at the same time, you’ll reach double gates with a large drive, parking for numerous cars.
We are also wildlife enthusiasts and are turning some of the grounds into a wildflower meadow with paths cut through so guests can wonder amongst it all looking for butterflies and other pollinators. You may even see deer and hear the wild boar down by the river in our woods, we have red squirrels and hare in the garden. The. red squirrels love to feed from the walnut tree, along with many birds feeding off the bird feeders too, The highlight of the year is seeing the hundreds of cranes migrating over the Dordogne. The sound is absolutely amazing.
You enter the apartment via steps leading up to the terrace that has outdoor dining for 6 plus double sofa for relaxing watching the sunsets. With double doors taking you into the lounge kitchen and dining room. This room retains its original beams which really adds character to it. There is free fibre wifi and smart TV for streaming.
The kitchen dining room is fully equipped with a hob/cooker, fridge freezer, dish washer, air fryer, coffee maker and use of a washing machine in the barn. We will supply all kitchen products needed such as dish washer tablets etc. There are velux blinds on the windows and shutters on the entrance doors should you wish to block out the sun on a hot day.
There are 3 bedrooms - one double and 2 twins, the third bedroom is ideal for children with it being in the eaves. All bedrooms have Velux blinds. From the main bedroom there is a large window with shutters with far reaching views over the Dordogne countryside.
The bathroom has a shower, vanity unit with storage and a unit for all towels etc.
The toilet is separate with a vanity unit, (it’s rather quirky)
There are wall mounted heaters for chilly evenings.
With over 3000 sq meters of garden which backs onto the woods, we love to just wonder in it and a great space for children to enjoy the outdoors, at the front there is farmers field, the cattle love to watch you swim from the fence.
There are plenty of sun loungers and parasols for lounging around the pool, the pool room below the terrace has blow up LILO’s etc.
You’ll also find 2 hybrid bikes for use, the cycling is great with the quiet lanes and the ride along the river.
To discourage landfill you’ll find recycling bags and built a compost for all your vegetable peelings etc.
We are only an 15 min walk to the village Corgnac sur lisle that has the river lisle running through it where you can enjoy picnics. There is also a very popular restaurant, pharmacy, grocery store with boulangerie and sports bar. We are only a 10 min drive to the town of Thiviers with its weekly market. There are 3 supermarkets Lidls, Intermarche Super and Auchan plus banks with ATMs. The historic village of Saint Jean De Cole is only an 15 min drive, the beautiful town of Brantome is only a 30 min drive with its huge weekly market, you can hire kayaks here for the more adventurous. Jumilhac Castle is another must to visit. For those with a sense of adventure and only 5 mins away is the Veloraol du PERIGORD ( it’s a 2hr ride pedalling on a railway buggy on a disused railway track through woodland, over bridges, through tunnels and past abandoned stations. Walking and cycling is plentiful in the area. You can also cycle on the disused 40km long railway track from Thiviers to Nontron. If you enjoy willd swimming there is the swimming lake at Plan d’eau Nantheuil with its beaches close by.
We will also leave guests a welcome pack so please let me know if any allergies.
To confirm we supply all bed linen, all towels including pool ones and anything needed for the bbq and kitchen.
We also have a 1 bed apartment which is totally private to this, should you wish exclusivity I’ll see if that is possible, or you may wish to hire this out too at only £60/£70 a night if there are more of you.
There is plenty of space for parking at least 4 cars.

The pool is seasonal and depending on the weather it will be open from about April time to the end of September

We are flexible on check in and check out, will do any day of the week.
No smoking in the apartment but we allow smoking outside as long as they are disposed of responsibly

Lovely week at Trudie’s place

The weather wasn't on our side but its such a beautiful peaceful location with loads of things to explore and do with kids locally. The property is really well equipped and was very clean on arrival. Eating on the patio is great and the kids really enjoyed the pool which was very clean! Trudie was a great host and helped us with lots of local advice and tips. The village of Corgnac is about a 15 min walk and has a nice restaurant and a few shops and a nice area by the river but Thivier is nearby for a bigger market and nice places to visit in the area like Brantome and St Jean de Cole. Would recommend.
Lovely one night stop overb

My children especially loved cooling off in the pool on such an extremely hot day. The home had a nice open space with beautiful views, and the cows in the surroundings made it even more special.
Very relaxing, peaceful long weekend at Trudie’s place
By Erika Dobson on 18-Aug-2025Just spent a very relaxing, peaceful long weekend at Trudie's place which was a lovely end to our holiday in the Dordogne. Trudie was very welcoming, friendly and helpful with lots of tips on where to visit in the local area. The apartment was the perfect size for the 4 of us and well equipped with everything we needed. The view from the terrace was beautiful especially at sunset and the pool was a welcome retreat from the heat! Trudie was very helpful, provided towels and toys for the pool and even lent us a sunshade for the car during our stay. Thank you for a lovely stay!
A Safe Haven!!
By Delphine De Luca on 16-Aug-2025A safe haven!!! At the end of a cul-de-sac, after walking along a cow field, we arrive at the stone building. The apartment is located on the 1st floor, with access via a terrace overlooking the greenery, the swimming pool. It is impeccable, spacious, (there were 6 of us). The bedding is good quality, the sheets, bath/pool towels are included in the service, so, less things to bring! Kitchen is functional. The living room with the big sofa is very nice. It was extremely hot but the pool, the orientation of the house, effective ventilation of the rooms with the cooler nights and mornings meant that we coped well with the heat! The pool is royal, with plenty of deckchairs. Wifi works great. Finally Trudie and Anguss are kind, warm and very helpful! We were able to improve our English! In short, a house where life is good, you can stay there without any fear!

Comme écrit dans la description, de très beaux villages ou très belles villes sont à proximité. N'hésitez pas à visiter Saint-Jean-de-Côle, Brantôme ou le château de Hautefort. La maison de Trudie et d'Angus est parfaite pour un séjour au calme. Attention : il vaut mieux connaître un peu l'anglais ou utiliser le traducteur du téléphone (même si les hôtes - qui ne sont là que depuis septembre 2024 - essayent d'apprendre le français). Je recommande ce gîte sans aucun problème.
