The pvilla is also fully air conditioned. This is a perfect holiday home to relax in and a great base to visit the best of what the French Riviera has to offer.
Villa Castagniers is set in a peaceful and rural area on the edge of Vence and within walking distance of the village centre (approximately 20-25min). With a good choice of cafés and restaurants and some breath-taking views of the surrounding mountains and St Paul de Vence, it is well worth the walk.
While several artists lived in nearby St Paul de Vence (Picasso, Dufy, Modigliani) other artists lived in the slightly lesser-known village of Vence just 5km away. Vence attracted artists such as Matisse to whom we owe the Chapelle du Rosaire, a truly unique work of art. Chagall also lived both in Vence then in Saint Paul de Vence. All these artists have museums dedicated to their arts in Nice or Antibes.
The Mediterranean Sea and beaches can be reached in less than 30 minutes’ drive and there is a whole range of exciting coastal resorts to visit such as Nice and Antibes, both about 30-40 minutes away. Not to forget numerous nearby villages like St Paul de Vence, Tourettes sur Loup or Gourdon all with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Monaco, Menton and the Italian border are all under an hours’ drive.

Vence: One of the most famous and beautiful, perched villages in the Cote D’Azur and has a wonderful artistic heritage with numerous galleries and shops, restaurants and street cafés. The village comes alive in the summer with its famous Festival and live concerts held in the open-air town square. Within the village walls there are cafés on the Place Clémenceau, a great spot to sit and watch activities of this busy square. A visit to the Matisse chapel, designed and decorated by the artist himself in the late 1940s, is recommended.
Grasse (20km): famous worldwide for its perfumeries, Grasse is often hailed as the perfume capital of the world! It even has a museum of perfume. Grasse is a fascinating old town with pretty streets, squares full of life, numerous shops, restaurants, a daily market and a magnificent Cathedral. Grasse gets quite busy especially in August during the Fete du Jasmin where you can see floats driving through town throwing flowers into the crowd. Known as the Bataille de Fleurs (flower battle), onlookers get soaked by their natural perfume. During the event there are fireworks and dancing. If you are looking for something a little different why not visit the limestone caves and grottos leading up to the Plateau de Caussols, 4km north of Grasse.
Antibes (23km): Antibes is a lovely old town with narrow winding streets, a great selection of restaurants, cafes, piano bars, private clubs, theatres and for art lovers the Picasso museum.
Juan Les Pins (23km): Sitting next to Antibes is a very attractive coastal resort with gorgeous beaches, exciting nightlife with trendy night clubs, casino and also night shopping!
Nice (31km): Glamourous and lively seaside city with a wide range of activities on offer from shopping in Nice’s chic pedestrian precinct, to wandering around the old town with its small shops, busy pubs, restaurants and its famous market. For those interested in history there is also plenty to do such as visiting Roman remains of Cimiez where a superb Jazz festival takes place in July. There are also a number of museums to discover (Matisse, Chagall, Palais Lascaris, Art museum MAMAC and many others). Why not go to the Parc Phoenix, a huge botanical greenhouse garden and zoo? In fact, it is one of the largest in Europe with six different tropical climates and thousands of plants to discover. Nice’s latest addition is the brand-new Promenade du Paillon a huge green zone covering twelve hectares and 1.2 kilometres long located in the heart of Nice with plants, trees, fountains and play areas. Nice has so much to offer so it is tricky narrowing it down but if you fancy an overview of Nice and see it as shown so often on photos then make your way to Mont Boron mountain which offers spectacular view points to the west over Nice harbour and the whole bay of Nice which is magnificent by day or by night when it is all lit up. To the east you will also have great views of St Jean Cap Ferrat peninsula and Monaco. There are lots of water sports along Nice coast and nearby coastal towns such as diving, parasailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, water skiing, inflatable riding, wake boarding and the latest craze – flyboarding. Why not hire bikes to ride along the Promenade des Anglais, or try rollerblading instead whilst enjoying the views of the bay and discover Nice in a brand-new way?
Cannes (37km): One of the unmissable jewels of the Cote D’Azur with sandy beaches and large promenade La Croisette, chic boutiques, classy restaurants, bars, shops and numerous festivals throughout the year, including of course the Cannes Film Festival in May each year.

Villa Castagniers
By Sigbjørn on 05-Jul-2025The owner was on hand from day one. The first day we were at the villa was Sunday and after that it was French National Day. We needed to buy some food and the owner was then on the supply side by offering grilled food from a neighbor and instructions to the nearest Sunday open store. Really good service! The house is very good, fantastic outdoor area and lovely pool where the kids could learn to swim. Grocery store with a good selection just a few minutes’ drive away. I haven’t seen many buses in the area, so it’s probably good to have a car.

By Christine F on 13-Jul-2024We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Villa Castagniers. The booking process was easy and the information came in a timely manner. The villa had a great set up for our family and the house and garden were very clean and well equipped with plenty of outside furniture and shaded areas. We have already stayed in Vence several times so the area was perfect for our needs.
Villa Castagniers
By Mary P on 06-Jul-2024We had a wonderful time at the villa. It was spotlessly clean, modern and had all the facilities we needed. The garden and pool were delightful and we really enjoyed our evening games of Pétanque! The privacy in the garden and views from sun loungers made our stay very peaceful and relaxing. We could not have asked for more. The service at the villa, and from yourself, were all first class. We really did have a wonderful time, thank you very much.
