Description
The Orchard Bank Barn ,is a stylish contemporary build . The barn is perfectly located to explore both the South Devon Coast and Dartmoor.The relaxing contemporary interior which boasts fantastic views. Step inside to the the large light filled open plan living area with a high ceiling with a dining and kitchen space. After a long walk on Dartmoor, you’ll be able to snuggle up on the sofa, lie back on the yoga mats or on the Mulberry bean bag. There’s space for four around the dining table and the bespoke kitchen is fully-equipped with everything you’ll need for anything from quick breakfasts to fancy dinners.
The relaxing contemporary bedroom has a king size bedroom with its Simba mattress and crisp white bed linen. There’s a stylish ensuite bathroom boasting rainfall shower. Large floor-to-ceiling windows open out to let in some of that fresh countryside air and allow you to better enjoy the stunning views over the Dart valley.
Guests enjoy walking to Ashburton ,a pretty town with an array of restaurants, pubs and interior shops. Emelia’s Resturant, The Old Libuary and Raffikis. They love shopping at Ben’s Farm shop in Staverton too.
Many enjoy wild swimming in the nearby River Dart , horse riding , running walking and cycling on Dartmoor . Being located on the southern edge of Dartmoor means that guests take a short drive short the South Devon Coastal beaches of Salcombe, Mothercombe and Blackpool Sands and explore the many pretty towns and villages there - Dartmouth , Salcombe and Totnes are always a favourites.
Many of our guests also enjoy attending short courses at the renowned Ashburton Cookery School.

By Nick Fearn on 12-Mar-2026A lovely relaxing stay. Booking was so easy. Serena responded very quickly to emails. Due to our visit being in the low season, Serena offered both an earlier check in and later departure time which was unexpected. An arrival gift of choice was also a lovely touch. Good directions were provided as well as a very useful guide to the local area, shops, pubs amenities etc. We’re seasoned visitors to Devon but Ashburton is somewhere we’d not stayed at before. A great little town, with some excellent eateries and independent food shops. The Barn was simply lovely and just what my wife and I were looking for. A quiet location and very well appointed. The length of our stay meant we weren’t able to make full use of the things like the washing machine, but don’t think they could have thought of anything else to add to make our stay more comfortable. We did make use of the head torches though, that were needed when we walked home from the pub up the very dark lanes! The bedroom was light and airy, with doors that opened privately over the valley, with only a handful of rams as neighbours. The towels, bed linen and bath robes were excellent quality. The bed comfy and the pillows were amazing! The whole place has been well thought though and is very comfortable. We need to return in warmer weather to enjoy the outside area, fire pit and do some star gazing.

By Frances on 31-Mar-2025We really enjoyed our stay at Orchard Bank Barn. The place was just the right size and had everything we needed. The gardens are lovely with loads of space to enjoy. It’s extremely peaceful with easy access to lots of places if you fancy a trip out. We were more than happy relaxing just reading and enjoying the views. I would thoroughly recommend a stay here - we plan to return soon hopefully for another weekend away. Thank you Serena & Mark.

By Sarah-Jane on 20-Jan-2026I had such a lovely 3 night break here whilst doing some cookery classes just down the road, and it was such a delightful haven to return to - cozy, warm and with fabulous countryside views. The barn was finished to a very high standard and immaculate, and Serena and Mark were very responsive to message and had provided very clear instructions making everything super easy. Delightful in every way. Would highly recommend.

By Eloise on 23-Jul-2023We absolutely loved our stay at Orchard Bank Barn. Wonderful to be both off the beaten track and so close so a Ashburton. The barn is in a gorgeous setting, and waking up and being able to open the double doors/windows in the bedroom and be surrounded by nature was fantastic. Most morning we saw rabbits bouncing in the field and on one morning a deer. The accomodation was spotless and felts luxurious yet homely at the same time. Kitchen was really well equiped with everything you need. Amazing shower and v comfortable bed. Ashburton is a great place to visit, highly recommend Emilia''''s and Rafiki''''s. The deli is great too if you''''re after a bits for a casual supper. Briar Bakery was fab too, excellent bread and amazing cinnamon bun. From the accomodation is was easy to get to Totnes and other places in the area. We explored Dartmouth and visited Blackpool Sands Beach (very nice cafe). We''''ll 100% be back. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
