Sleeping 12 guests (with space for 2 more at an additional charge per person), it sits in glorious countryside with sweeping views over the Yarty Valley, the perfect setting for a relaxing rural escape.Whether you’re planning a big family gathering, a milestone celebration, a multi-generational getaway, a break with friends, or a spot of corporate hospitality, Shires has something for everyone. Enjoy your own private spa hall with a pool, sauna and hot tub, settle in for a film night in the movie room, get competitive in the games room, fire up the year-round BBQ lodge, or let the kids burn off energy in the play area.
Accessibility has been thoughtfully designed into every detail. The open-plan ground floor has level access throughout, making it ideal for wheelchair users. Two downstairs bedrooms include one with a fully equipped ensuite wet room, and hoists can be fitted in the spa room and at the fire escape. There’s also a lift to the first-floor sun terrace so everyone can enjoy the views.
Venture out and you’ll find family attractions, outdoor activities and the stunning beaches of the Jurassic Coast all within a short drive. With the A303 just minutes away and the M5 within easy reach, getting here is simple, but leaving might be harder.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
By Keene on 04-Mar-2025We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the house had everything we needed. The whole family enjoyed it from ages 30-80 and having the two rooms downstairs, really helped too. The pool, hot tub, games room and tv room were very popular with everyone.

Absolutely fantastic
By Grrmble on 07-Apr-2025The Shires was absolutely fantastic! The space was wonderful for 11 people, and there was everything we could have wanted. The pool area is absolutely amazing and lovely, and warm! It didn't matter what the weather was doing, we had plenty to do, including pool table football and an excellent cinema room! The owners of the house are extremely friendly and welcoming, and have a very laid-back approach- they genuinely want you just to have a great time!
We all really loved the Shires
