Leave ReviewBest equipped gite!
By Caroline Hunter on 29-Sep-2025La Baronnie Gite is in a great central location to visit the beautiful valley of the Dordogne. The gite is the best equipped self catering holiday home we have stayed in, with all your needs anticipated and catered for. Exclusive use of the pool was one of the attractions for us and the pool area did not disappoint, with plenty of sun loungers and shade if needed. Shona and Steve are welcoming hosts and happy to recommend places to visit, including some locals knowledge when it comes to tasting and buying wine! On their recommendation we also visited the Chateau Les Milandes which was new to us and really interesting and enjoyable. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay. Visited in September
Excellent location and hosts
By Peter Russell on 10-Sep-2025Very well equipped gite situated in an ideal location for visiting tourist attraction -chateaux, gardens, grottes- and river activities. Shona and Steve are perfect hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 day stay in Sept 2025.

Superb give, superb location, lovely hosts
By Alan and Christina Schmincke on 23-Aug-2025An excellent, very well equipped gite with a lovely pool in a superbly location for exploring the Dordogne. Cant say much more more than that, other than Shona and Steve are the perfect hosts - very accommodating and helpful. Highly recommended - you will not be disappointed!

Great holiday
By Katie Gilhooly on 24-Aug-20252 hours ago New We have had a lovely stay at Shona and Steve's beautiful Gite. We were welcomed warmly and the cheese and wine etc was a great treat after our journey. We were invited to the gorgeous terrace for welcome drinks on our first night, where we were given lots of tips on where to visit during the week. They were always there if we needed to ask any questions. The Gite itself was impeccably clean, and was truly the most well equipped place we have ever stayed, no additional toilet roll or foil etc required! The beautiful new kitchen and decor in the rooms was a real treat. Of course, we have to mention the lovely pool, it was a delight to lay on the super comfy loungers whilst the girls played. We've had a thoroughly lovely week and we hope to visit again, thank you Shona and Steve, especially for a really fun and delicious pizza evening... We do really have to mention though ...Sooty and Smoky, you were definitely our highlight! Much needed respite ...thank you x
Magical holiday
By Deborah Cutting on 05-Jul-2025This was our second holiday at Shona and Steve's gite and once again it was perfect. From the time of booking to the end of the holiday everything was faultless. Since our last visit, the gite has had a new roof, kitchen, flooring and paint. The kitchen is well stocked (there wasn't anything we didn't have) and the gite spotless, bright and airy. Having towels available to use at the pool (which is sublime) and also ones for canoeing or river swimming saves on packing. The area itself is suitable for families and couples alike with markets, chateaux, caves and vineyards all in easy reach. Shona and Steve are the perfect hosts and with places still unexplored we'll most definitely be back again.

Thanks for your wonderful review Deborah. It was really lovely to have you back again this year and I am glad that you enjoyed your holiday as much. We would love to welcome you again next year to explore all the other places on your list!
Fantastic Gite
By Paul on 14-Jun-2025We had a superb 2 weeks at Steve & Shona's gite here in the Dordogne. There is so much to see in the area that you need far more than 2 weeks to get it all in. Steve & Shona are wonderful hosts & the gite has everything you might need during your stay. The pool is amazing & there are lots of extremely comfortable loungers set around it. Saint Cyprien is a lovely town with a number of places to eat & an excellent Sunday market. Special mention to Les gourmandises de lucco, about 2 minutes drive away, which has the best cakes, tarts & pasties
