Description

Villa de Cour is a spacious and imposing farmhouse, with a living area of 250m2, which has been renovated whilst maintaining the original features. Original features include an ancient barn, village well and bread oven. Situated in a small hamlet in a peaceful setting in beautiful countryside, the house is ideally placed for exploring the major tourist attractions of the Dordogne Valley, such as the medieval towns of Sarlat and Montignac, Lascaux prehistoric caves and the chateau at Hautefort. It is 2km from Sainte Orse which has a small local restaurant and a shop selling bread. It is a 10 min drive to the supermarkets and more restaurants in Hautefort or Thenon.

The property includes a farmhouse kitchen, two large sitting rooms, three double bedrooms (one on a private mezzanine), two twin bedrooms and three bathrooms - one with bath and shower, two with shower rooms and 3 WCs. in addition to sleeping 10 adults, there is one child's bed and one cot.
Facilities include washing machines (2), dishwasher, linen and towels, WiFi and TV.

The enclosed rear garden is walled and contains garden furniture and a gated 10 x 5m swimming pool. There is covered parking and the front garden includes a stone terrace with barbecue overlooking a walnut grove and the countryside beyond.

Both house and garden are spacious and ideal for families, or groups of artists, walkers, cyclists or gourmands. There are many local walks and bike routes on designated paths and quiet local roads.

Train station: Thenon (10 min drive)
Car: 7 hour drive from Caen (works well with overnight ferry from Portsmouth)

Changeover day is Saturday. Prices include cleaning at the end of your stay and local tourist taxes.

Restful and lovely

We very much enjoyed our stay here. Rural, definitely, but wonderfully peaceful and easy access to nearby towns and villages. The house is well equipped and has a real rustic charm to it that added to the whole holiday. Plenty of space to relax and enjoy the pool and garden games. Overall the whole group had a great time and returned home with stress levels reduced. Will definitely return.
