Description
Villa de Cour is a beautiful, spacious and imposing old farmhouse, with a living area of 250m2 and extensive garden on both sides of the house. It has been renovated whilst maintaining the original features, including an ancient barn, village well and bread oven.The enclosed, spacious grassy courtyard is ideal for sunbathing, outdoor games and relaxing. It provides access to the private gated swimming pool. The front garden includes a stone terrace, lawn and barbecue overlooking a walnut grove and the countryside beyond. With two separate sitting rooms and a large kitchen diner, it is an ideal house for one or two families, or a large group of friends to relax in peaceful, rural surroundings.
Situated in the small hamlet of La Germenie in beautiful and peaceful countryside, the house is well placed for exploring the major tourist attractions of the Dordogne Valley, such as:
- the medieval towns of Sarlat, Montignac and Domme
- the famous Lascaux caves with their prehistoric cave paintings
- numerous castles such as Hautefort, Losse, Jumilhac le Grand, Beynac and Castelnaud
- kayaking on the river
- local food markets, such as Excideuil
- the local water park at Hautefort.
The house is 3 km from the delightful village of Sainte Orse where you can enjoy a coffee in the square, buy fresh bread and eat at the local hotel. Supermarkets and more restaurants are a 10 minute drive away in Hautefort or Thenon. There are many local walks and bike routes on designated paths and quiet local roads.

Car: 7 hour drive from Caen or St Malo (works well with overnight ferry from Portsmouth)
Changeover day is Saturday. Prices include cleaning at the end of your stay and local tourist taxes.

Be it the warm stone of the old farmhouse and surrounding buildings, the roses, the multiple different terraces for different times of day, the open view to walnut orchards, the loving renovation with open timberwork, comfy sofa's and lovely textiles. And there is space, meaning two families could happily holiday together. The kitchen is well equipped. Given the warm weather we also greatly enjoyed the pool. Thank you!

Great for group holidays
By Mary on 24-Aug-2024This lovely rustic farmhouse was perfect for our group holiday. There was enough living space for us (including the children) to spread out comfortably - something that's often not the case where there are lots of bedrooms. The enclosed garden was brilliant for the kids to run around in, and the kitchen was fairly well equipped to deal with cooking for a large group. Communication from the host before and during the stay was excellent. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place as your base for exploring the Dordogne!

A gorgeous house in a gorgeous location
By Ben Harwood on 22-Jun-2024Had a delightful stay in this beautiful converted farmhouse. Plenty to do and see in the surrounding area, but the pool and garden made just staying at the house an equally splendid way to spend the day. Fantastic for a group of 8-10 looking to get away.
A real rural retreat

It is spacious, full of character and has the most stunning swimming pool and pretty enclosed garden. It is a rural setting and you definitely need a car but you are rewarded with a chance to explore all the little villages and even getting to Sarlat-la-Canéda for canoeing on the Dordogne was easily done.

Lovely relaxing holiday
By Emma on 29-Jun-2024An amazing large farmhouse and garden and pool. Peaceful and quiet yet close enough to lots of days out and easy access to nearby towns. The house is well equipped, clean and very roomy and comfortable and set in a beautiful garden and large pool. We all enjoyed our stay so much and felt so relaxed at the end of our two weeks. I loved sitting in the garden and having breakfast listening to the birds and swimming in the pool every evening. Perfect.
