A stunning chateau, grounds and surrounding 360 degree vistas, where you can escape into your own private hideaway. The flexibility of the space in the chateau and outbuildings means you have sufficient room for a small family gathering, all the way to a large group of friends, or extended family holiday. The chateau has a great feel due to the thorough renovation and means you have the ultimate in comfort for your stay. We loved spending evenings moving from the family / dining / kitchen space, on to the large terrace, which leads directly from the lower level. The ability to nip back inside to get your next course, or another bottle, right next to the manicured terrace meant you were able to relax and enjoy the space. The pool is wonderful, a great temperature and has outdoor entertainment space and barbecue, with the gites and other spaces surrounding the pool. The grounds are wonderful rolling countryside, with views as far as the eye can see where you can enjoy lovely picnics. The chateau is perfectly located to explore the Charente, Dordogne and further afield to the Bourgogne, with quaint villages, towns and vineyards never far away. If you are looking for a castle to rent in France, look no further than Chateau de Lasfonds, you won’t regret it.
Staying at Château de Lasfonds was honestly a dream!
By JINGYI QKO LIN on 01-Dec-2024Staying at Château de Lasfonds was honestly a dream! We wanted something different, something unique, something European — and then a friend proposed to rent a castle. As crazy as it sounded, we found Lasfonds and it was a perfect fit. The communication with the team was super easy. When we arrived, the place was even better than the pictures. The location is great, surrounded by its own parkland and with amazing views of the forest. A few times we saw foxes and deers in the morning playing in the yard. Everything promised in the listing was there and working perfectly, from the wifi to ovens and the gym. There’s a lot to do nearby, so apart from wine, cognac and food tours, we did go karting, horseback riding, explored local ancient villages and food markets. We stayed with a group of 12 friends, and at $15 grand per week in low season, we thought it was a great deal for such a special and luxurious experience. So, if like us you are seeking a unique castle escape, Lasfonds must be one of the best castle for rent in France!
The most magical stay at Chateau de Lasfonds
By Georgina Brewer on 10-Sep-2023We had the most magical stay here. The castle is exceptionally beautiful, complete with breathtaking scenery and meticulously maintained grounds. The restoration of the castle itself is so impressive; you can enjoy all the original grandeur and historical features but in true comfort. A cosy winter break with underfloor heating and modern bathrooms would be as much of a treat here as a lazy summer holiday spent by the enormous (heated) pool. That's a rarity for castles in France! We also loved how spacious the accommodation was for large groups and families - it was ideal to holiday together but have lots of space throughout the estate to enjoy quieter moments too. The rooms by the pool are less formal but minutes walk from the main house and have full access to a well appointed kitchen and games room. Absolutely ideal for those with young babies ... or younger teenagers looking for a party! The location is great, we went for a host of day trips to the surrounding villages and towns for wonderful lunches, kayaking and infamous french markets. Although it's a typically rural French setting, and you certainly don't have to leave if you don't want to, but it can offer plenty to families, like ours, who wanted to have activities within close range. If you're looking for the ultimate luxury holiday rental in France then Chateau de Lasfonds comes pretty close to perfect in my view. Thanks for an amazing stay!
Management retreat at Château de Lasfonds exceeded all expectations

We were looking for something special, and surprisingly best way to rent a castle in France is to address the owners directly. The location is stunning and peaceful, and easy to reach from Angoulême. The château itself is renovated, preserving the original style but offering all the possible amenities: a pool, a wine bar, and great spaces for our workshops. My room was so comfortable—it’s the best sleep I’ve had in years, with a stunning sunrise. The region is a dream for food lovers, full of amazing restaurants and local specialties. A big thanks to the team at Lasfonds, who were so welcoming and made everything effortless for us. I can’t recommend this place highly enough—it was an unforgettable experience!
Special celebration at Château de Lasfonds

Communication with the team was smooth—they provided all the details and were very accommodating. The château was stunning, the outbuildings comfortable, and the gardens beautiful. The team connected us with a concierge who arranged private chefs, Michelin restaurant reservations, and activities like wine tasting and a private photo shoot. On grandma’s birthday, the hosts gifted her a thoughtful goodie basket with local treats. While we stayed mostly in the château, the grandparents later moved to the lavender cottage, which they found charming. This is an excellent French château for family celebrations, and we had a wonderful time.

The swimming pool was a highlight for all of us, perfect for relaxing on warm afternoons. The lovely barbecue area made our evenings extra special, allowing us to enjoy outdoor meals surrounded by the beautifully maintained garden. My son especially loved picking his own apples straight from the tree— a charming and unique experience that made our stay even more memorable. The property’s location is ideal for exploring the surrounding countryside, yet it feels wonderfully private and tranquil. The hosts were welcoming and attentive, providing helpful recommendations to make our stay even more special. We highly recommend Chateau de Lasfonds to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable getaway in France!
