A perfect and peaceful hideaway

By Shaun McCarthy on 10-Jun-2022

This is by far the most glorious gite I have stayed in in any department in France, perfectly situated deep in a peaceful rural hinterland between the popular sights of both the Dordogne and Vezere valleys. Tucked away up a drive through a wood, the gite and pool look out over a hidden valley of open grassland, almost parkland, completely surrounded by woods, with no other house or a road in sight. We spent every night that we were in sitting on the spacious covered t3errace just looking at the light change as dusk drew on. The pool is delighted, big deep (at on end!), lit and heated. An absolute treat and, like the rest of the property, completely private, surrounded by trees and garden. The house is spacious, well-equipped and filled with light. We are already looking at dates to book it for next year

You want peaceful….it’s right here!

By Graham & Clare on 11-Jun-2021

This comfortable house was just what we needed, quiet and away from the hurly-burly. Its well equipped and cool interior is perfect on a hot day or you could dive into the pool then relax on the covered terrace to gaze at the view, to look out for the red deer in the evening, listen to the abundance of birds and plan your itinerary for the next day. Plenty to see and do in the area, but there’s no rush, that view needs keeping an eye on! Fairly isolated but yet not too far from the nearest village, with decent markets nearby, including Sarlat which is a must. We will be returning to this lovely place.

A perfect reparative break from the hustle and bustle of life

By Sue & Greg Baker on 27-Sep-2019

We were more than delighted with the peace, tranquility and incredibly warm weather, that we experienced during our September visit to l’Emerillon last year. A comfortable bed, cosy sitting area, everything we could possibly need was provided to make our stay an absolute pleasure. We spent our time exploring the local area and discovered excellent restaurants close by. We spent afternoons in the pool, evenings and early mornings on the terrace enjoying the view...and the company of the neighbours super friendly dog who somehow managed to know when we would be returning and would greet us with such joy, content then to join us on the terrace until he was called home. We watched graceful deer grazing in the meadows and experienced a rather large wild boar stepping out from the woodland in front of the car on the track up to the cottage. A perfect reparative break from the hustle and bustle of life. We hope to return in the near future.
