Description
Conveniently situated on the borders of the Lot et Garonne, the Dordogne and the Gironde, just 45 minutes from Bergerac and 75 minutes from Bordeaux, Labarthe B&B and Gite is located just three kilometers from the Bastide town of Duras, and enjoys spectacular views across the beautiful valley and vineyards/hazelnut orchards and recently planted Almonds to Duras Chateau and beyond.The two bedroom holiday cottage is attached to the main house but is very private and secluded, the double French doors open out onto a private terrace overlooking the large shared pool. The two large and comfortable bedrooms have superior English beds and linen, one Super King and one King size zip link. Each bedroom has it's own en-suite shower room.
The open plan living space has a fully fitted modern kitchen with dining area and comfortable seating area. There is a TV, DVD player and Free sat allowing the standard UK , or French, channels. There is Wi-Fi Internet access throughout the house. In addition in the main house we only offer 2 B&B rooms so the garden and pool is never noisy. We do not have children’s ‘toys’ or children’s games and the pool is not enclosed but is alarmed. Our guests are those that enjoy rural France and everything that France has to offer but like to be within 4 minutes by car to restaurants, cafe, chateau and many other entertainments.
For wine lovers, Labarthe cottage is ideal for visiting the Bordeaux, St. Emilion, Bergerac, Pomeral, Buze and of course Duras wine producing areas.
The property has a large shared pool, loungers, parasols and personal barbecue for your gite are provided for you to make the most of the sunny out door life style. As we only have 2 B&B rooms in addition to the Gite, the pool is for the majority of the time used solely by the Gite occupants as the B&B guests (if we have any in residence) are mostly out and about..
Our aim has been to provide accommodation we would be delighted to stay in ourselves if it were our holiday. Therefore, we have tried to make the accommodation comfortable and welcoming.
This is a truly peaceful and tranquil location. Ideal for 'getting away from it all' and winding down, both for couples or as a family. The cottage is fitted with electric radiators so is ideal for out of season lets for Easter, autumn & winter breaks. Labarthe Gite is available for short breaks out of high season.

By Morisson on 30-May-2022My husband and myself stayed in the two bedroom gite for a week. We arrived hot and tired after a long drive and the gite was cool and inviting. It was spotlessly clean and Richard and Jeanette have thought of everything you might need including enough essentials so that you don’t need to rush to the shops. The beds are large and comfortable and the gite has its own patio with barbecue. We picked the fresh strawberries growing around the patio and had them with breakfast! The view is stunning and so peaceful, bunnies play st the edge of the garden and you can hear the tree frogs singing at night, just pick one of the well placed loungers and enjoy. Our hosts were discreet but very friendly and we are planning our next trip back in September. A fabulous little find.
Just Fabulous
By Brendan and Hilary on 19-Jul-2022We have just returned from a fabulous week at Labarthe gite - our first holiday abroad since Covid and it excelled all expectations! In fact it is so lovely we daren't mention it to our friends as we might not get in again ourselves! Richard and Jeanette are superb hosts - their welcome and local knowledge was really appreciated. The gite is superb - the best we have ever stayed at. It is equipped for everything you may need. We really appreciated the generous welcome pack too. The main bedroom has fabulous views of the lovely garden and beyond. The bed is incredibly comfortable and the bedding perfect - cotton and cool. As we were on our own, we each had a shower room and the other bedroom as a dressing room - luxury! The weather was 30 degrees plus when we were there, so the options for shade, the pool and the fan at night made the temperatures bearable. A good reason to relax, read and do nothing- just what we needed. Thank you both again for everything and we look forward to our next visit!
Peace and Tranquillity
By Rob on 29-Mar-2023We stayed at Labarthe for the month of March. It's a fabulous location in the French countryside, with easy access to Duras and the surrounding towns. Peaceful and tranquil, often the only sounds you can hear are the birds. The gite is spacious, well equipped and Richard and Jeanette could not be better, more helpful or accommodating hosts. We've never stayed anywhere before where the hosts have said if there's anything we need or feel is missing in the gite, they'll go and buy it! A really enjoyable stay and we would definitely recommend.
Beautiful Gite and Setting
By Diane on 25-May-2023Richard and Jeanette are excellent hosts. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The gite is extremely comfortable and well equipped, and sits in beautiful grounds with a stunning view over tranquil surroundings. We wish we could have stayed longer than just a week.

Wonderful accommodation and location
By Deborah and John on 25-Aug-2023My husband and I stayed at Labarthe Gite for a week in August and, as it was fully booked for the month, we booked another 12 nights in their B&B. We expect high standards and were not disappointed. Richard and Jeanette’s attention to details are second to none. Richard’s breakfasts are a treat and Jeanette’s homemade jams superb. When the weather is good breakfast is served on the B&B terrace where the panoramic views are glorious. Bedding in the Gite and B&B is high quality and the beds are very comfortable. Every room has a large bed and some convert to twin beds - 6’ wide beds aren’t always easy to find in France! Everywhere is kept beautifully clean and there are mosquito nets fitted at the bedroom windows. Richard makes sure the pool is cleaned daily. The gite is very comfortable and well furnished. It has it’s own private dining terrace with sun loungers looking out over the pool. The extremely spacious gardens have sunny and shady areas with a choice of tables, chairs and sun loungers dotted around. If you want a private space you have lots of spots to choose from. We enjoyed walking around the area and some guests were adventurous enough to walk to Duras, the nearby small historic bastide town famous for it’s castle. There are some shops, cafes, bars and restaurants in Duras. Would we return? Of course we will. We’re already thinking about next year. Some of the other guests we met at Labarthe were repeat clients and this was the eighth B&B stay for one lovely Dutch couple.
