Description
Short term lets licence no. DG00558FSelf-catering holiday accommodation situated in the heart of rural South West Scotland, above the Cairn River valley, and six miles from the town of Dumfries.
High quality barn conversion, sleeping eight in four bedrooms.
Ideal for outdoor activity holidays, with ample drying and storage space.
Very comfortable for simply relaxing in, with sauna and games room too.
At the heart of the renowned 7stanes mountain bike trails.
Easy access to main roads for travel around the region.
The Lodge is accessed from the B729 via the short private driveway to Greenhead Farm. Parking is available around the property. All entrances are to the rear maintaining privacy and easy access to the terraced area. The Lodge has been created from the conversion of the Farm's barn, sitting at the entrance to the steading yard and so is remote from the part time farming activities. Views are to rolling farmland lying above the Cairn valley. The Cumbrian Fells and the Solway Firth form the backdrop to the views from the fields behind the Lodge.
Recent building standards have been incorporated and the levels of insulation in particular will ensure a most comfortable environment throughout the year. On the ground floor there is an open plan layout comprising lounge with smart TV and DVD player, part partitioned by the chimney with wood-burning stove; dining area and fully fitted kitchen including dishwasher and fridge freezer. Also leading from the entrance hall there is a shower room and a large twin-bedded room with TV, convertible to kingsize double. On the first floor there are a further three twin-bedded rooms, two of which lead off the landing- one is again convertible, with the third a suitably private gallery type layout above the lounge, also convertible. The bathroom includes a screened over-bath shower.
A utility/drying room is separately accessed beside the Lodge which in addition to housing a washing machine and tumble dryer is a wet-room style, for handling any wet outdoor gear.
Fibre optic broadband for high speed internet has been installed.
Directly off the utility room is the large sauna which easily seats up to eight, and a games room with 6'x3' slate bed pool table- convertible to table-tennis use- and dartboard.
Bed linen is provided, but not for the cot. Towels are not provided.
The Lodge has now converted entirely to renewable energy use with heating/hot water from a ground source heat pump. Good Energy, our electricity supplier will shortly be assisted by a roof of PV panels with battery storage.

Leave ReviewFestive and New Year break 2025/6
By Paul and friends on 27-Dec-2025Great property and wonderful location. Ideal for outdoor activities. Wood burning fire is brilliant on wintry evenings and the sauna and games room a great addition. We had a brilliant festive break and made some fantastic memories. Lorna and Allan were the best hosts.
Hidden Gem
By Anndrea, Graeme and Lillie on 23-Dec-2024We stumbled upon this lovely place by chance and so glad we did. We stayed over Christmas and the lodge had everything we needed to prepare and enjoy a Christmas day dinner. The only thing that we did not have provided was a hairdryer so make sure you pack one. The log burning fire made it so cozy and we had plenty logs left for us daily. The WiFi was great and the sauna was a fantastic bonus along with a pool table. The owners were lovely and available if you needed anything. I was also able to walk my dog in the surrounding fields, which she loved. The only thing I would change is the downstairs shower hose, and perhaps change the pool table cover but this definitely did not spoil our stay. I will definitely be booking again with family next time as it sleeps 8 comfortably. Thanks again for making our Christmas extra special.
Great place to stay!
By Jill on 31-Aug-2024Perfect location just outside Dumfries. Peaceful, surrounded by farmland and rolling hills. Accommodation is lovely and spacious, clean and everything you need. Great sauna and fun games room. Website pictures don't pay justice to what a great lodge this is.
