The Otter sleeps 2 and is furnished and finished with style. Bespoke decor, Egyptian cotton sheets, and an outdoor dining area provide the ideal setting to relax and spend some quality time with your loved one. Secluded and serene, the Otter is the ultimate romantic getaway.The luxury eco cabin was built with sustainability in mind and is powered by solar panels and heated with a wood-burning stove. It also has a rain shower, fully fitted kitchen with small fridge, gas cooker, grill and oven and is complete with all the utensils you'll need to whip up a romantic meal. The ideal place for a digital detox, the Otter is a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of daily life. A sedum roof and sheep's wool insulation complete the environmentally friendly design.
Your booking includes all the fuel you'll need to fire your getaway - logs for the hot tub and wood burner and gas for cooking and hot water. Your dedicated kayak is also included, along with buoyancy aids. All linen is included, along with a luxurious robe for your hot tub visits. On your arrival, you'll find a wee taste of some local, artisan chocolate.

By Caitlin M on 10-Jul-2025We stayed here Friday-Monday with our dog. The “Otter eco bothy” was just as we hoped. Spacious big bothy and well insulated with a lovely kitchen area and bathroom. Kitchen is well equipped and bed is super comfy. The hosts put little chocolates from “In House Chocolates” in the bothy for you to enjoy.The view of the private pond was lovely to sit and enjoy no matter the time of day and if you’re lucky enough you’ll be able to see some of the wildlife around the bothy. A little bird feeder is situated very close to the front door so you can watch the various birds feeding throughout the day (Would recommend bringing bug spray). The wood fired hot tub is a great addition it’s so simple and easy to use with the added bonus of a clear sky to watch the stars. As it states in the welcome book we had private access to a two person Kayak, life jackets and paddles which we took frequently on the Loch with our dog. There is also other activities available to book such as boat hire or rock climbing. Everyone is so friendly and more than happy to help. The bothy is situated in a small drive away from the main town of Castle Douglas to which you can explore some of the local spots such as “Streetlights coffee house” for some brunch or head to Threave Gardens for some beautiful garden views. We most definitely will be visiting again.
