Martingale – Spacious Three-Storey Cottage for Families & FriendsOnce a humble hay barn, Martingale is now a striking and spacious holiday cottage, thoughtfully converted to offer flexible living across three floors. Ideal for large families or groups of friends, it comfortably sleeps up to 12 guests under one roof, making it the perfect base for a memorable holiday in South Devon.
Ground Floor:
You'll find a family en-suite bedroom with a king-sized bed and single bed, a separate family bathroom, and a generous twin bedroom with two single beds. Both rooms can accommodate a cot if needed. This floor also includes direct outdoor access, as well as a useful utility room with a washer, dryer, and additional fridge space for added convenience.
Top Floor:
This level features a double bedroom with a compact en-suite shower room, a family room with a king-sized bed and single bed, a cosy twin room, and a further family bathroom.
Middle Floor (Main Living Area):
Centrally located, the living floor offers a spacious lounge, a well-equipped kitchen, and a large dining room with seating for everyone—perfect for gathering over meals or relaxing after a day of exploring.
Outdoor Space:
Martingale boasts a private BBQ terrace with seating for the whole group and views across the valley—ideal for enjoying the evening sun. A secluded, sloping lawned garden adds to the charm and privacy.
From 1st November, Martingale will welcome up to two dogs, making it a great choice for pet-friendly holidays.
The cottage includes parking for three cars, with additional spaces available by prior arrangement. Guests also enjoy access to all of Pitt Farm’s shared facilities, including a heated indoor swimming pool, tennis court, boules court, games barn, zip wire, adventure playground, and woodland walks.

Outside play areas were taken full advantage of and the pool was particularly pristine and inviting. Martingale was so well equpped with selections of beds facilitating young cousins able to sleep together and all kitchen eating and cooking facilitiest top quality Highly recommended Thank you to our hosts
I cannot praise this place enough
By Chris W on 12-Apr-2025I cannot praise this place enough. We absolutely loved it. The six grandchildren had so much fun together it was lovely to watch. They didn't want to leave the place at all over the weekend and were asking on our second day to come back for another holiday
Wonderful stay - group of 11
By Rachel S on 11-Apr-2025We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Pitt Farm cottages, staying in their Martingale Cottage. The cottage itself was really lovely, so many nice touches and extras. The facilities on the farm were brilliant too. There was so much to keep the children and adults entertained. We were a party of 11, ranging in age from 6 months to 67 years. We went swimming frequently, played tennis, table tennis, used the play park, trampoline, zip lines, and they really enjoyed feeding the alpacas, goats and chickens in the morning. Thank you so much for an excellent stay and making us all feel so welcome.
Great 3 generation (plus dog) holiday destination

The location gave access to beautiful South Devon coastal beaches. I have no reservations in recommending Pitt Farm. Read more
We had a fabulous large group celebration weekend
By Josie on 07-Apr-2025We had a fabulous large group celebration weekend ( guests ranging from 1year old to 73 year old) staying in 2 beautiful cottages at Pitt Farm and there was something for everyone. It’s not often that a holiday exceeds your expectations but the amazing venue, stunning countryside, excellent facilities, warm welcome and quality of accommodation and equipment was outstanding. Laura and Richard have thought of everything and there’s nothing I could improve. Loved the pristine pool and well stocked honesty shop. There’s a gorgeous walk through fields and woods to the ancient church and local pub at East Allington village nearby. The kids loved the zip wire, alpacas, playground and indoor games room. We were also within easy reach of Slapton Sands. All in all highly recommended and we would love to come back.
