Description
Set in an idyllic position on the edge of the enchanting village of Embres et Castelmaure and surrounded by sun drenched limestone hills, lush vineyards and aromatic pines. Built in an upside down fashion to make the most of the breathtaking views across the Corbières mountains to provide light and airy family living space on the first floor and cool bedrooms on the ground floor - very welcome in the height of the summer. If like us you enjoy a rural French ambiance, where the pace of life is slow and uncomplicated, yet if you want your holiday home to offer you the modern luxuries to help make your stay relaxing and comfortable our villa is the place for you! Close to lovely Mediterranean beaches (25-30 mins), and the pretty town of Durban with shops and amenities, the surrounding area is rich in Cathar history, medieval castles, ancient monasteries and beautiful landscapes to drive, walk or cycle through. Autoroute 30 mins & Airports approx 50 minutes away. May, September and October are perfect for those who like to walk the many Corbieres trails and cycle the hills. Our lower price at this time reflects the fact the pool is not open in May or after mid-september.Bedroom Details

By Alison and John on 07-Sep-2025John and I had a super relaxing week in an area of Corbieres which we adore. Villa Syrah is beautifully light, spacious, very well equipped and clean. We bought far too much of the very tasty local wine (we live in France so no problem with customs!) and dined out at L’Hopitalet Beach on Narbonne Plage - super! Despite the slightly cooler weather than normal in September we did manage swimming in the sea, and some beautiful solitary walks in the garrigue and vineyards. Thankyou Debbie, we have made some great memories.
Relaxing break in beautiful surroundings
By H Johnson on 09-Aug-2025Just returned from a relaxing weeks break at this outstanding villa, that’s beautifully presented both inside and out, with stunning views and is well equipped for both couples and families alike. The large pool is an added bonus on hot sunny days. The owner Debbie is very knowledgeable about the area and has been a pleasure to deal with. The welcome gift on arrival was also a lovely touch, so thank you! We would have no hesitation in recommending this villa to other guests and we hope to see you again next year!
Peace and tranquility
By Jo and Jo Baptiste on 02-Aug-2025We stayed at this lovely villa for 7 nights in early August 2025. We are a family of 5 and the villa was perfect in meeting all of our needs. The weather was fantastic - so easy to spend the long summer days by the pool. Our children spent most of their time in the pool with a few day trips to Leucate beach which was absolutely superb. This was reachable in under 30 minutes. The villa is incredibly spacious, clean and modern with perfect views of the surrounding scenery. It was quiet and private which was exactly what we needed. Our eldest daughter is jn a wheelchair and this is the most accessible accommodation we have stayed in on our travels with ample space jn the toilets, showers, bedrooms and outdoor gardens. She even managed to access the amazing pool every day which was just the best! The pool is a great size for a large family. The upstairs is a lovely space with an open plan kitchen diner leading into a living area though we didn’t get much chance to stay inside due to the fantastic weather. It was lovely to sit on the terrace overlooking the pool with breakfast in the morning and with a glass of wine in the evening looking at the stars. Communication with Debbie was excellent. Debbie was extremely helpful responding to queries before we booked and was quick to follow up with a phone call. This was a perfect stay and we will be back again very soon. I fully recommend the villa to families or couples who are looking for a peaceful stay. Just the best!
Lovely rural villa

Upside down living experience
By Rob Judge on 31-Aug-2024We stayed in this Villa in early September 2024, having previously stayed in its neighbouring Villa a few years ago. The Villa is located in a very quiet location. The bedrooms, and shower rooms, are situated on the ground floor as you enter the Villa, the kitchen and living accommodation being on the first floor, where the large windows afford good views over the area. The Villa is very well equipped and comfortable. Perhaps one thing to mention is the track leading to the Villa off the main road is quite long and bumpy, and not ideal for low-slung sporty cars. Luckily, we took my partner's Renault Clio which just about coped!
