Description
There’s nothing quite as relaxing as staying in a Woodland Lodge for a few days! Away from the hustle & bustle, you will have no choice but to relax & enjoy. An 8 minute walk will take you into the village of Toppesfield where we have a pub, shop, park & brewery.This idyllic location on the Essex/Suffolk Border has so much to offer and Toppesfield Hall is the perfect place from which to explore it!
Book a Woodland Lodge for the perfect retreat; nestled within a small expand of woodland trees and surrounded by open fields. And YES, they are Dog Friendly and have secure gardens, with fencing all the way round (approx. height 1.2m)!
The stunning lounge/kitchen/diner with large french doors, connects the inside with the outside garden and woodland area beyond. It really gives you the sense of being in the thick of nature and countryside, without sacrificing comfort or quality. When night-time falls, retreat into your bedroom and close your shutters for a tranquil nights sleep.

Step out of your lodge onto the decked veranda, which leads to your own private Hot Tub, screened by cherry laurels hedging. The fencing is purposefully built at low level to ensure the views from the woodland area and countryside are uninterrupted.
The surrounding fields offer a host of walking routes if you are feeling active, and our village can be reached within 8 minutes. Here you will find a Park, a Dog Friendly Pub with Beer Garden and play area, Local Shop, Post Office and Toppesfield Brewery too!
Alternatively, just relax, light the fire pit and put your feet up; soak in the massaging hot tub and just watch the world go by. Or, if you are feeling a little more active, you can enjoy a game of Tennis (located within the woodland area too) or hire bikes to venture further afield.
There is dedicated parking available just a short walk from the Lodges (within 150 yards). There is a working farm in the next courtyard along from the main Hall.
There are 4 Woodland Lodges positioned around the woodland area, perfectly placed to explore Suffolk/Essex. They have been designed & built to a very high standard and have everything you need for a great holiday. Strategically positioned to allow the outside in, for the ultimate holiday! Our lodges are suitable for individual families or can even provide the perfect solution to holidaying with your friends or extended family.

During our stay we walked many footpaths, visited local villages and the local pub and Indian takeaway, and spent many hours in the hot tub. All communication was promptly responded to. The place had everything we needed and with things to do onsite such as, hot tub, games room and a nature walk, it was perfect for us! Amanda was amazing as well! She was very friendly and was always ready to help us with any questions we had! We definitely recommend to stay here, worth the money! We loved it!

By Ella on 12-Nov-2025Beautiful place to stay. Wonderful country retreat with lots of great recommendations for nearby places to visit. We stayed for a long weekend with our two small children. Great communication beforehand. We particularly enjoyed the views, the hot tub, exploring the local woodlands and the comfy beds.
Need to revisit for sure!
By Kash on 28-Sep-2025Stayed in the chestnut lodge which was very cosy and clean. The surrounding area is gorgeous and just generally very pleasant to be around. The hot tub is clean and the temperature is perfect! We made a fire most nights which was also cosy and just was really nice. Nearby tennis court and games room can provide hours of entertainment. Need to re-visit for sure!
