Description
Bracken is a one bedroom comfortable self-contained apartment located on the ground floor of Maxwelton. It has its own entrance and garden area with patio and seating for 2. There are sea views from the garden.Bracken is ideal if you are looking for a comfortable base from which to explore the stunning Exmoor coastline and countryside by car, bicycle, horse, landrover safari, or on foot. The South West Coast Path and Coleridge Way are all on our doorstep.
Bracken is situated in a peaceful lane in Porlock but is only a couple of minutes walk from the historic Ship Inn and Porlock village centre.
Bracken is ground floor accommodation. There is a small step at the front door and one other small step within the property. Unfortunately the corridors are not wide enough for wheelchair accessibility.
Please note that during mid-high season and bank holidays we give priority to letting the whole house out as one unit (Exmoor Holidays) for larger families and groups so our availability calendar is marked as unavailable at these times, but opened up if we have late availability offers.
Maxwelton, which is on the first floor of the property, is also very popular with individuals and couples looking for more spacious accommodation with the additional features of sea views log burner and larger garden
Bracken’s accommodation comprises:-
Bedroom with comfortable double bed
Lounge/dining room:
Lounge dining room is equipped with Smart TV/DVD, dining table and chairs, coal effect electric fire, 2 seater settee which converts into sofa bed and chair
Kitchen:
The kitchen is equipped with electric cooker, washing machine, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave and toaster.
Bathroom:
Contains bath, over the bath shower, wc and wash-hand basin.
Self-contained garden:
Bracken has its own self-contained garden with patio and seating for 2 from which there are views across Porlock Bay and Hurlstone Point and from which you can see all the way across to Wales. There is a retractible washing line in the garden.
Dogs:
One large or 2 small well behaved dogs may be accepted by prior arrangement in Bracken providing terms and conditions regarding dogs within the property are agreed to. Cost £25 for 1 dog, £35 for 2 dogs per stay.
Car Parking:
There is one free off road car parking space to immediately in front of the door to Bracken Apartment
Smoking:
NB Bracken operates a “No Smoking or Vaping” policy within the accommodation. Smoking is permissible within the garden providing you are responsible with cigarette buts and use the ash trays provided. Please do not smoke near the doors or windows.

Couple with dogs staying in Bracken Apartment
By Ros on 15-Feb-2025We stayed in Bracken, 1 double bed on the ground floor. Wonderful well equipped and cosy with small grass garden with table and chairs with super views. NB garden does not directly ajoin the place so dogs cannot be just let out of front door. Rooms5.0 Service5.0 Location5.0
