Overview
Description
With a warm wood burning stove to create the ultimate cosy atmosphere, this cottage is your perfect escape for relaxation and comfortable living. Make it your home away from home!We are a small farm, now non-working except for a few chickens and three sheep and one dog. The barn was converted in 2011 from former cowsheds by the architect Nigel Stock, and are furnished with modern furniture. The design is contemporary with wooden floors and fresh colours. All amenities are kept to a high standard. The cottage is on one level with views across fields and has a private west-facing deck with seating and barbecue. You are free to roam over our eight acres with a stunning view from the top taking in the span of Cornwall across the north to south coasts.
For children we have a field with a swing and trampoline sunk into the ground, and lots of space to explore and make dens. We are also close to many of Cornwall's finest beaches on the north, south and west coasts. The towns of Falmouth, Truro and Penryn are all close by. There are wonderful places to eat out in Falmouth, by nearby beaches and close to the Helford river.
One of our favourites is the Pandora Inn or if you fancy a body board or surf and then fish and chips, head to Porthtowan.
You will find the location of our barn a perfect base for a holiday filled with adventures!

Great spot in a nice area of Cornwall
By Anne on 23-Aug-2025We (family with two kids) had a wonderful week at Rose Cottage. It is a nicely furnished accommodation where you can feel at home easily. The deck and garden are really beautiful and it all comes with a view (cows, fields...). The location is good, scenic towns like Falmouth or walks (e.g. Lizard Peninsula) can be reached easily by car. Supermarkets are not far away. A nice extra were the owners' beach and hiking recommendations: Thus we got to know our favorite beach of the holiday (Porthtowan) and had a superb hike to the Kennall Vale Mills.
Fantastic cottage and location.
By Tim & Lucy on 26-Jul-2025There was nothing we didn't love about our stay at Higher Lidgey, Rose Cottage. From the well appointed amenities to the super comfortable and modern aesthetic that lent itself to the simple beauty of our idyllic corner of Cornwall. . The hosts although across the courtyard were unobtrusive yet very helpful when needed. The cottage springboards you into the best of Cornwall but you could just simply sit in the gorgeous green surroundings and enjoy the view for days. Very relaxing!
Everything we needed
By Lucy Clark on 05-Jul-2025We had a lovely stay at Rose Cottage. It was very peaceful and in a lovely setting. The cottage was spotless, well maintained, and provided ample space for us and our teenage daughter. Great to have a bathroom each. Well resourced kitchen. Great Communication from Kathryn. Excellent location to get to all local beaches and restaurants and for provisions. No negatives.
A lovely peaceful and rural place to stay
By Adrian and Brenda Whitbread on 07-Jun-2025After over 25 years holidaying in Flushing in a friend's house with its own waterfront and parking, and when that was sold, renting cottages, we found the village over the years had become impossible for parking, extremely busy, and not that dog friendly. So to find Rose Cottage was ideal . It was the ideal size for the two of us and the garden and fields great for our working cocker Polly. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped, and the situation lovely and rural (as is where we live), but within easy reach of all our favourite places and dog friendly (in June) beaches. We had a very good holiday despite mixed weather. We hope to return in the future.
First Time Stay
By Stewart and Louise Lee on 17-May-2025Our first stay at this lovely little cottage with our dog Katy. The accommodation was excellent throughout. Clean, well furnished with everything we needed. The location was good being close to Falmouth and only half an hour away from Truro. We thought that the local information needed updating as some of what was said was out of date. Our dog loved the resident sheep in the adjacent field. Everything considered we had a very enjoyable stay and would highly recommended it to anyone wishing to do the same.
