Description
This cottage is right on the quayside in this picturesque, traditional old harbour with launching facilitates for sailors, kayakers and windsurfers directly in front of the house. At low tide, a small beach emerges at the end of the quay – so ideal for families with small children looking for the bucket and spade experience without yet another car journey. The local independent shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes in the small town of Fishguard are just a short walk up hill, where there is also a thriving cinema/theatre, an excellent leisure centre with pools and gym as well as the unmissable Last Invasion Tapestry in the Town Hall on The Square.
Inside number 37, there is a feeling of space and light. The comfy panelled sitting room has a wooden floor with a warm rug, corner sofa, two easy chairs and wood burning stove. Television is available through the free wifi, which will enable you to use your own accounts for Netflix, etc. The dining room/kitchen has a long table with seating for eight which can be expanded. An easy chair, free WiFi, well stocked bookshelves and an excellent wood burner (which heats the bathroom radiator and towel rail) make this just the spot for the one who doesn’t want to watch the television! The fitted kitchen is well equipped with cookware, crockery and cutlery for up to twelve people, as well as a larder fridge, freezer, microwave and dual fuel four hob cooker. At the back of the cottage is a shower, toilet and small washbasin, also a useful space for outdoor gear and dog beds, the recycling bins and washing machine. Up the stairs, with a lovely old wooden banister rail around the landing, are three harbour-facing bedrooms – one with a king-sized bed, the tiny “pink” room with a 2’6″ bed and the third room with three single beds. The good sized bathroom has a large separate shower, a bath, toilet and washbasin. There are two pulley airers, one on the landing and one in the dining area, which make up for the lack of an effective airing cupboard. No 37 is amply heated by night store radiators and the two wood burners. A basket of logs, sticks and firelighters are provided for your arrival.
All beds will be made up with fresh linen and tea towels & hand towels are provided. Please bring your own bath and beach towels. A camp cot, high chair and stair gate are available on request, although cot bedding is not provided. Cars can be parked directly outside against the cottage walls.
