The Owner Recommends
The beautiful Atlantic coast is a must, including the chic town and promenade of Arcachon the magnificent Pyla Dune and miles of golden sanded unspoiled beaches.
There are excellent cycling roads with very few cars and a brilliant new cycle way all along the nearby Canal Lateral with village bars and cafes to rest at on the way. You can take a trip on the canal on a leisure boat or even hire your own boat for the day.
The local marina of Fontet makes a lovely day out especially if you have children; there is a shaded park and pinic area stacked with climbing frames swings and slides etc and a small guarded bathing lake, beach and cafe-bar where you can enjoy ice cream and snacks.
The local town of La Reole is steeped in history. Its over 1000 years old. You can follow the historic guide through its streets and buildings including the oldest town hall in France built to the order of Richard the Lionheart. La Reole holds its market every Saturday on the quayside of the River Garonne. There are plenty of bars and cafes to sit outside and a good selection of restaurants all within walking distance of the farmhouse.
The historic wine capital of St Emilion is definitely worth a visit with its medieval catacombs and underground church. There are plenty of restaurants to eat in, gift shops to browse around and not forgetting plenty of vineyards
There are numerous châteaux, interesting medieval markets and cathedral towns.

A fantastic place to stay!

My family had a wonderful stay at this beautiful farmhouse, with its beautiful grounds and large safe pool. The grandchildren spent long hot days playing in the pool. The owners were very welcoming and friendly. We can’t wait for a return stay.

There are no words to describe how perfect this villa is. It is as if you are staying in your own home with every need catered for. The house is large and very comfortable. The patio and barbecue is ideal for eating outside. The pool and pool room could not be better and the garden large and well laid out with a climbing frame and swing. Very safe for the children. An added bonus was the chicken and goat who got lots of attention ( and food ) from us. ( A party of 4 adults and 2 children.) The owners Sheenagh and Edgar could not have been more helpful (who also kept the garden beautifully and cleaned the pool every morning.) They provide bikes for anyone staying at the villa. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they provided tea ( and wine ) for our arrival which was very welcome. They suggested places to visit which was appreciated. We enjoyed our holiday so much that we have booked next year. I cannot praise this villa enough and recommend it to everyone. Thank you Sheenagh and Edgar.
