Overview
Description
A quirky traditional Cornish fisherman's cottage in the pretty coastal village of Flushing, renowned for its warm climate, being sheltered between the banks of the Penryn River and Falmouth harbour. Features of this Flushing cottage include original slate floors, exposed beams and a woodburning stove.Combining character with modern decor and facilities, this Flushing cottage provides a cosy family retreat with one particularly quirky aspect - the original 18th century communal wash room now houses a modern and well-equipped kitchen/diner, approached by an external pathway from the cottage, and opening to an enclosed courtyard garden with pond.
From this Flushing cottage there is easy access to some of the best sailing waters in the West Country, including the Helford River, Fal Estuary and Falmouth Bay. Just five minutes' walk from the beach, and a stone's throw from the glorious walking on the coastal path, this cosy Flushing cottage is bound to appeal to all those seeking a traditional Cornish holiday retreat.

A quiet cottage in a great location
By Sarah Bewick on 02-Aug-2024The owner didn't lie when she said her cottage was quiet, nor when she said that if we wanted to walk and swim, Flushing was ideal. We spent a week here in early August with our teenage daughters, swam every other day at the local beach, had some great walks to Mylor and Helford Passage and enjoyed our trips to Falmouth to sample local culture and seafood. Was taken aback by Cornwall's beauty and would definitely come back.

By Micheal, Clare, Angel and Cathy on 07-Aug-2015We had a great summer holiday in Split Cottage. We've enjoyed the walk to Mylor several times and had a great time using the 6 day Mussel card. St.Mawes, Place, Truro, Trelissick and Helford, all great days out plus visits to explore Falmouth on the ferry. Thanks for putting hooks in the wall to keep our kayaks safe. It's been so easy to trundle them down to the harbour and we've enjoyed some great trips on the water. Bernard enjoyed his trip out to see your boat! Flushing carnival on 25th July was a lovely surprise- it felt we really got to live here (as locals) for a while. Hope to be back!

By The Johnston family on 15-Aug-2018The cottage was everything we wanted in a lovely location. Cornwall never disappoints and we particularly enjoyed our surf lesson at Gwithian. Thank you for the recommendation. Sorry to be leaving but hope to be back in the future. A great host!!
