Leave ReviewFantastic Property
By Joe on 13-Sep-2025We have visited France yearly since 2013 and this property is by far the best we have stayed in. It is very comfy, clean and tidy, safe and exceptionally spacious. The swimming pool is large enough for everyone and it's heated ! The owners Chas and Marina, whilst not at the property, were extremely helpful during our preparations and replied to emails and texts promptly. The area the house is located is perfect for a French holiday. Fontenay is on your doorstep with it's shops, cafes and bars. Supermarkets literally 5 minute walk away and the perfect base for exploring. La Rochelle and Puy du Fou are must sees and only one hour away. On the whole we had a great holiday and made wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.
Best Villa in France
By Geraint on 02-Aug-2025Over the years we have stayed in several villas in different areas of France but we have now stayed in this villa for about 8 yrs. The reason we keep going back are simple it ticks all our boxes, there's a first class swimming pool, the house is well equipped, the location is brilliant ie walking distance to town but far enough out that its quiet and peaceful, and there's lots to do in the nearby area. To be honest I didn't want to leave a review as I wanted to keep the villa to myself so please keep this hush hush and don't tell anyone else
Beautiful villa in a beautiful location.
By Becky on 16-Aug-2025This is our 2nd stay at this beautiful Villa. It is well equipped with everything we needed to accommodate our family of 6. The Villa has a wonderful layout allowing valuable family time together but also space when people wanted to branch off and read etc. The pool was an absolute hit. Especially as it is heated. There are some brilliant places to visit a short drive away. We love La Rochelle and La Tranche-Sur-Mer which are each a 1 hr drive away from the Villa. Fontenay-le-comte is a short stroll. The markets on a Wednesday and A Saturday are amazing. 10/10 for comfort. Not essential to some but the added bonus of a TV with English channels helped massively to settle our son down as he struggles with change. The owners are informative and helpful but also the neighbours to the Villa are lovely and helpful too. We would recommend this brilliant Villa for a lovely, relaxing stay in a beautiful part of France.
Best equipped holiday house we have found in France
By Angie Smith on 26-Apr-2025This is our 4th visit in consecutive years to this lovely property. I can honestly say that during 25 years of twice yearly visits to France, this is the best equipped and best quality property that we have stayed in - which is why we have returned again and again. It is furnished and equipped to a very high standard and is like staying in somebody's home, rather than in a holiday rental. The owner's, Charles and Marina, have been very helpful with clear, full details and instructions beforehand and have always only been a text away if we have had any questions. The neighbours too have always been very kind and helpful. The location is ideal, very well situated for hypermarkets but in a quiet residential street near the outskirts of Fontenay and only a few minutes drive to main routes and a few minutes walk to an Aldi supermarket. The view over the town is beautiful especially during the amazing sunsets. Fontenay itself is a beautiful old town with lots of historic streets and buildings to explore, but also with excellent pizza places (Antoine) in Rue des drapiers near Les Halles, and restaurants and modern services and shops. It is ideally situated both to explore the Vendee itself and further south to La Rochelle and Poitou/ Charente. Our particular favourites, amongst others, were the NaturPark at Mervent, the historic town of Vouvant, The Haras at La Roche sur Yon, the historic abbeys and castles, the Asinerie du Baudet de Poitou (rare breed donkey centre about an hour south) and of course the wine tasting in the Fiefs Vendeen is good too. The medieval cities of Clisson and Parthenay are also worth visiting. There is so much to see and do in the area. I can thoroughly recommend this excellent property.
