is surrounded by organic or Bio farmland. You are free to explore & enjoy the land & walk in the large expanse of woodland. Due to the organic status of the surrounding land & the lack of spraying of chemicals you will notice a healthy population of insects & butterflies which in turn attract a wide variety of interesting birdlife to watch. Whilst the situation here is rural, we are close to the market town of Civray 8kms away & the village of Charroux with its boulangeries, bars & pharmacy (5kms). The cities of Poitiers & Angouleme & the coast at La Rochelle are all accessible for a day out & there are many attractions closer by. We are also close (20km) to the racing circuit at Val de Vienne which runs a busy calendar of racing both car & bike throughout the year. We have plenty of parking here for trailers & transporters.

The main entrance to this newly refurbished & refurnished property is accessed by a short flight of steps to the large veranda looking out onto the extensive grounds & lakes. The veranda forms an ideal place to sit and relax & watch the wildlife, the birds & the sunset perhaps with a chilled glass of wine or a gin & tonic.

From the veranda, doors open into the hallway with a cloakroom to the right hand side & an adjoining toilet & washroom. The hallway continues with double doors giving access to the very spacious & beautifully furnished sitting room. This large light filled room has windows to three sides looking out over the land & the gites private garden. A large comfortable leather suite offers plenty of seating for TV viewing, you can watch UK satellite programs as well as French channels . A DVD player is provided with a selection of discs, in addition a music system with radio & cd & selection of cd's is available.

At the opposite end of this large room is the dinning area with a large table comfortably seating ten to twelve people , a good selection of quality crockery & glassware will be found in the dressers & cupboards . An archway leads through from the dining area to the well fitted kitchen. There is a large fridge freezer, a cooker with gas hob with extractor hood & electric oven. We also provide a microwave & dishwasher and a coffee maker which uses (pods). The kitchen sink looks out over the rear garden & a wildflower meadow with a small wood beyond, deer can often be seen in the meadow along with the occasional sanglier ! There is a large pantry / storage cupboard adjoining the kitchen, we have tried to provide the house with everything you might need whether making a snack or a fine dining evening meal. The rear door leads from the kitchen out onto a small area & steps down to the garden.

The two bedrooms on this floor are accessed from the main hallway through a door which separates them from the kitchen & living areas. To the left is a spacious twin bedded room with en- suite bath & shower room with windows looking onto the garden & pool area & to the right is an equally spacious double room with a king size bed & its own en-suite bathroom again with bath & shower.

An additional doorway from the hall opens onto a staircase leading down to a large area, on this level you will find a further bedroom with twin beds & en-suite shower & toilet, there is also a large games room with a table tennis table, a snooker table (not full size) & table football . There is also a wine fridge, Washing machine & sink.

From the kitchen a staircase leads up to the 1st floor, on this level you will find a large family room with King size bed & a single bed, this room has a bathroom next door with bath & shower.

The spacious private garden can be accessed from the kitchen via a short flight of steps or through a gate by the garage area. Here you will find a large dining table for al fresco dining, a clothes dryer, a nice selection of fresh herbs & the built in charcoal bbq area. The view looks out over our own woodland & a wildflower meadow. The pool area is accessed via a metal gate & offers sunbeds, parasols & a shaded area for when the sun gets too warm! An incredible stay

By Sophie Whike on 22-Jul-2023

We had an amazing stay here. I came with my mum and two dogs for just over a week and it was amazing. The house is down a very long drive, meaning you’re in the middle of nature. Lots of walks to do around the house and there’s a large lake that the dogs loved playing in. Richard and Elaine were lovely. They left an incredible welcome basket of food, drinks, cakes (everything you need for the first day or so) which we really appreciated after a long drive. They were great throughout the whole stay, if we needed anything (like advice on where to take day trips to) they couldn’t be more helpful, but we’re very respectful of our privacy when staying there. The house itself is amazing. Very nicely decorated and has everything you could possibly need. The pool area was the highlight - very spacious and large (even though unfortunately we picked a usual week of bad weather so didn’t use it as much as we hoped)! The area is great, lovely little villages nearby and only 10 mins to a larger town with huge supermarkets and shops. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back here, one of the best places we’ve stayed at in France by a mile. We had a fantastic time.

Peace & tranquility in beautiful rural spot

By Pip Sinclair on 01-Aug-2023

What a find! Richard could not have been a better host - great at responding to email, available via text during stay, met us to show the way but in no way intrusive during holiday. We have never had such a fantastic welcome pack - so thoughtful. If you are looking for real relaxation away from it all in an authentic, organic, rural setting - this is the place for you. Also easy drive to access shops, vet etc in Civray and Charroux. Really comfortable and plenty of space (as family of 4 with teenagers plus dog we didn’t need downstairs bedroom). Great to have games room in addition to pool. Well- equipped kitchen etc. Walks around property with our terrier were just beautiful - no way he was going to catch one of the hares! Hosts had even put out a paddling pool for the dog. Although main garden not fully enclosed, pool area obviously is, so easy to contain a pet. Plus there’s a gate on veranda and little space at rear and the lounge nice and cool. As previous guests have said, the west facing terrace is definitely a high point and we enjoyed a bit of boules etc on this front lawn too. Another bonus was bikes- good loop to Genouillé, Charroux and back through Asnois. We were just sorry we didn’t stay for 2 weeks.

Peaceful tranquil stay

Lovely spacious clean accommodation with everything you could possibly need provided. Completely private pool area with refreshing pool big enough to swim in. Kept very clean. No passing traffic so safe to let the dog roam. Beautiful array of butterflies fluttering past as you relax in the gardens. Deer ,frogs and owls seen in the evening. Richard always on hand to help if you need him. He leaves a fabulous welcome tray, very much appreciated. Would return in a heartbeat. The Charente is a lovely shady river to canoe in, just 20 mins away in Ruffec.
