We have lost track of the number of times we have stayed at La Beaumette over the years, it just keeps drawing us back. The house itself is fantastic with multi zone living spaces and a fantastic kitchen/dining area that is perfect for those big family meals. Evenings spent dining on the terrace, under the grape vines have always been memorable for us. On our last visit, we brought our grown children and their families. The garden is a delight and the refurbished pool was just magic with many great afternoons playing with the grandchildren. We cannot think of anything we needed that wasn’t in the house, clearly Nicky has fitted it out as though it was her own home! The location is outstanding for morning or evening walks through the surrounding vineyards. There are a number of winemakers in the village and cellar door sales at Domain Saint Damien is one of our favourites. There are plenty of local village markets where one can purchase ready-cooked delicacies or fresh ingredients for home prepared meals. Our hosts have always advised us to go early in order to avoid the crowds. There are so many attractions close by, so plan plenty of time to visit, but Avignon, Nimes, Pont du Gard, I’Isle sur la Sorgue & Mont Ventoux are just a few of the ‘musts’. Finally, but not least, our hosts Nicky and Steve are wonderful. They are always contactable for help and advice. Their local knowledge is incredible and if you are looking for a wine or winery recommendation, Steve is the go-to. Steve and Nicky, thank you for providing such a wonderful house for our Provençal vacation. We will be back!
We had a very enjoyable 2 weeks staying at this characterful Provincial farmhouse. The owners have done a great job restoring this property, which is situated at the rear of a small hamlet, The hamlet and surrounding farms are very quiet, lending your holiday a feeling of rural tranquility, but there is easy road connections to the surrounding villages by car with, for example Gigondas being approx 10 minutes drive, or Vaison La Romaine about 20 minutes by car. The property is spacious and the interesting layout means that everyone can have some privacy - we were a couple plus 2 grown teenagers - and it never feels cramped. The photos on the website give a very honest view of the property - its one of the few houses I have rented where the reality is actually better than the pictures ! The outdoor area is equally charming, with a gated driveway leading to a walled garden surrounded by vineyards, all adding to the feeling of privacy. There is an outside dining area, built in Stone BBQ, some cosy seating areas, with the centre piece being the large swimming pool - refreshing during th long hot summer days - but equally special under the clear night skies. The owners are very friendly and live in an adjoining part of the property, so are on hand in case you need anything (we didn’t !).
This was our 7th stay at the house in La Beaumette hamlet and the first time with our whole family, including our grandchildren. The location is perfect to enjoy both the peaceful lifestyle of Provence as well as having easy access to shops , cafes , excellent restaurants and plenty of world class wineries in Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Beaumes de Venise. The set up of the house works really well for a multi-generational family, with 3 bedrooms in the main house and the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom in a separate part, with independent access. The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances and a dining area at one end. There are also lots of different sitting areas both inside and outside including a lovely outdoor dining area , with a built-in barbecue. The large heated swimming pool is always very enjoyable and this time, particularly so for our grandchildren, who love swimming and sunbathing. The gardens are typically Provencal and there is a fantastic herb garden, perfect for those who love to cook. There is a great selection of food produce in the nearby supermarkets as well as from local markets plus cheese and olive oil producers. We think the choice of restaurants in the area is excellent, offering variety, high quality and excellent service. They are particularly good value for lunch. There are plenty of activities to do in the area including hiking and it's a road cyclists' dream destination. Lots of easy cycling routes and experts can test themselves on the slopes of nearby Mont Ventoux. Other day trip attractions include the famous lavender fields of Sault, the vineyards and the famous wineries of Chateauneuf du Pape.
