Overview
Description
Our house is a spacious restored Provencal farmhouse, tastefully modernised but still retaining many original features and charm. The house is nestled in the heart of Gigondas vineyards in a tiny hamlet (sorry no shops but plenty of wine growers) and it has magnificent views over the vineyards. It is an ideal location for walking, cycling, wine tasting, or just relaxing by the pool. The sea is less than 2 hours away and other beautiful places to visit within easy reach if you are looking for a family day out. It is also within easy drive to local shops, markets and most major supermarkets.
About the property:
You enter through the covered carport and approach the front of the house over the boule court. It is situated in a secluded walled garden surrounding the good-sized, heated salt water swimming pool, which gives you the privacy to relax and enjoy yourselves. The outside dining area overlooks the pool, with plenty of sun loungers and lounging chairs.
Through the front door, there is one of the sets of stairs straight ahead with the kitchen/dining area to the left and living room to the right.
Turning left there is a huge dining room with a large extendable table with seating for 10+ and, following on, a spacious well-equipped kitchen. There are all the expected appliances (fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven, gas hob, microwave) and we also provide a Nespresso coffee machine, cafetieres and filter coffee machine and kettle. Just off the kitchen, you will find a utility space with a washing machine and a downstairs bathroom, then through into a larder with extra pots and pans and many other items to enhance cooking during your stay..
To the right of the front door, the living room is a large room with a wood-burning fireplace and a large 3-seater sofa and chairs. There is a TV for videos only. There is a small mezzanine area at the end of the room with a bookcase if you fancy swapping your holiday read.
Through the living room is the bar area, stocked with glasses for indoor and outdoor use, as well as a fridge/freezer. Perfect for popping in for cold drinks while you’re relaxing by the pool. We do provide a safe for your use and this can be found through the studded door in the old Cuve a Vin behind the bar.
The summer room adjacent to the bar has further seating, with a rattan sofa and chairs. We have some board games for all ages and a boule set in the cupboard, should you need a break from the sun. This room looks out onto the pool and outside dining area and BBQ.
Going up the stairs from the front door, there are 3 large, airy bedrooms (1 queen, 1 double, 1 twin beds). Following the hallway round, you will find the family bathroom and separate toilet.
On this floor, connecting the master bedroom to the summer room by a second set of stairs. it is massive bright room with beamed ceiling, this bedroom has a queen bed and dressing table, chest of drawers and as well as a large builtin wardrobe. plus a sofa on which to relax. This room has an ensuite, with a separate bath and shower. It has triple aspect views, looking out onto the vineyards behind the house as well as the garden, pool and vineyards in front of the house plus the door to the terrace. Truly the star views of the whole house!
Local Activities:
Wine
You are in the heart of wine country here, with wine producers in the village and within easy driving distance in the surrounding area. If you want to venture further afield, Chateau-Neuf-de-Pape is only 20 minutes by car.
Many villages have a local producers wine shop where you can taste wines from the area without having to go from domaine to domaine.
There are also several wine festivals in July and August, including our nearest village of Voiles, as well as Vacqueyras, Cairanne and Rasteau to name but a few.
Markets
Local markets are a way of life down here and whether looking for souvenirs or your shop for the day they are a must when visiting the south of France. There is one every day of the week in the area.
Our favourites are Vaison-la-Romaine (for a bit of everything) and Sainte-Cecile-les-Vignes, Nyons is a little bit of a drive but the local olive oil is delicious and the market offering is great.
Just make sure you get there early to park as the markets can get very busy.

Cycling
For the cycling enthusiasts Mont Ventoux is part of the Tour de France and is within reach of the house. For the more amateur cyclist, we have bikes available to explore the local vineyards as well as an old railway line where you can cycle for many miles, it runs from north of Jonquieres to south of Carpentras.
Walking
The Dentelles can be seen from the house and are full of trails, just make sure you pack comfortable walking shoes as the terrain can be a bit steep.
Kayaking is a fun day out for the whole family and can vary in length. I can recommend if you like.
Cave (Grotte) visiting in the Ardeche is also a fun adventure plenty to chose from and something to do on a rainy day.

Leave ReviewA Family Favourite in the Heart of Provence
By Gemma Hatting on 18-Sep-2025A Family Favourite in the Heart of Provence We stayed at Mas de Cabanes as a family following my sister’s wedding, and honestly, it was magical. The house is a traditional stone farmhouse tucked among the vineyards of Gigondas, it strikes a rare balance between rustic charm and everyday comfort. Inside, the house itself is beautifully appointed. Plenty of space, spotlessly clean, and genuinely family friendly. There were beds for all nine of us, plus a cot for our toddler and baby gates at both ends of the stairs (a small detail, but one that made a big difference to our peace of mind). Generous kitchen, and long dining table we could all fit around. The heated saltwater pool was a highlight. After the chaos of wedding festivities, it became our go-to spot for lazy afternoons, with views of the surrounding vines. The garden is private and peaceful — the kind of place where time slows down and long lunches stretch into early evening and sundowners. Nicky and Steve were warm and generous with their time, and full of great local tips. Thanks to them, we ended up visiting many artisanal markets that we’d never have found on our own, the kind with amazing cheese stalls, handmade linens, hand pressed oils, we found ourselves browsing among the locals doing their weekly shopping, and enjoyed the most delicious fresh local produce every day. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to gather as a family and celebrate such a special occasion. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful, well-equipped, and beautifully located home in Provence.
The most wonderful stay
By Richard Dunne on 15-Sep-2025Thank you so much for the most wonderful stay in your beautiful, spacious, easy-to-live-in house in La Beaumette. You have thought of everything from the extremely well equipped kitchen to the brilliant bar for evening drinks to the clean bedrooms with lovely, comfortable beds and lots of storage space. The outdoor area was equally as impressive. The saltwater pool was just perfect for regular dips during our very hot stay and we were spoilt for choice in terms of which sun lounger to lie on. We used the bikes for cycle rides from the gate and we went on gentle walks through the vineyards most days, too. We loved the dining area under the grapevine so much that we ate there every night with delicious local food and fabulous local wine. Our degustation with Florent at Domaine Burle round the corner was one of the highlights of our stay and we also really enjoyed wine tasting at Rhonea in Vacqueyras. The wines were some of the best wines we have ever tasted. As you know so well, it is such a stunning area and it was so easy to get to places like Sablet for our baguettes and pastries in the morning or Gigondas to sit outside for a drink in the evening. The market in Vaison-la-Romaine was excellent and we had great trips out to Avignon, Orange and the Pont du Gard, too. It really was a very special holiday. We loved every minute of it and we very much hope we can come back again soon. Many thanks from us all, Richard and Charlotte and family
Wonderful week in beautiful, spacious La Baumette
By Sue Timmis on 14-Jun-2025Our grown up family and partners (8 of us) stayed at La Baumette in mid June. We found it to be a wonderful house in a very peaceful village, with many interesting and beautiful places nearby - Gigondas, Le Sablet, Vaison La Romaine to name but three. We were delighted with every aspect of the house - it is very well equipped, with plenty of cookware, serving dishes, crockery and glasses (not aways the case!). It is very comfortably and originally furnished and much more spacious than the photos can show. The gardens are beautiful, and well cared and the pool is fantastic and quite large. We all appreciated the pool games, plentiful sun loungers, barbecue and bikes. It was very hot when we were there so having a comfortable place with everything we needed to hand was absolute bliss. Thank you NIcky and Steve - we would definitely consider returning.

Many thanks for your review, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay.
We have been coming for over 20 years
By Max White on 04-Apr-2025Wow what a lovely holiday destination. My wife and I started going to La Beaumette over 20 years ago and have taken our family and many friends to stay there with us over the years. Everyone has loved the quirky and capacious house, the beautiful outdoor eating area, and the excellent pool. The property’s location is perfection providing easy access to wonderful wine villages like Gigondas and Chateauneuf du Pape. Nicky and Steve are great hosts and have become firm friends. They are a mine of local information about restaurants and more than happy to assist in exploring local wine buying and tasting. I can’t wait to catch up with them around another memorable barbecue as we look out over the vineyards from their lovely garden.
Highly recommend this beautiful property
By Angela Frost on 10-Aug-2024We had a fantastic stay - the house is in the most beautiful location with stunning views and surrounded by the vines - unbeatable for peace & quiet. There is plenty of room to spread out with different areas to relax but equally lots of space for getting together as one large group for meals, games and, of course, a bottle of wine or two! La Beaumette was very comfortable, extremely well equipped and big enough for us all (Two family groups with grown up children/teens). We all loved the garden and outdoor spaces and the pool was superb. We visited markets at Vaison La Romaine and Orange, did wine tasting at some of the many vineyards of the area, took a day trip to Marseille and had a truly memorable evening at La Nuit des Vins in the nearby village of Rasteau - an absolute must if you're in the area when it's on. The weather was fantastically hot during our stay so air conditioning in the bedrooms would have been useful but we managed with the many fans provided. A big thank you to Nicky and Steve for allowing us to stay in your lovely home. We hope to be back very soon.

Thank you so much for your review and we are so pleased you and your friends enjoyed yourselves, plenty more to see and do and many more wines to taste.
Outstanding Accommodation in an irresistible location.
By Mike and Chris on 27-May-2024We have lost track of the number of times we have stayed at La Beaumette over the years, it just keeps drawing us back. The house itself is fantastic with multi zone living spaces and a fantastic kitchen/dining area that is perfect for those big family meals. Evenings spent dining on the terrace, under the grape vines have always been memorable for us. On our last visit, we brought our grown children and their families. The garden is a delight and the refurbished pool was just magic with many great afternoons playing with the grandchildren. We cannot think of anything we needed that wasn’t in the house, clearly Nicky has fitted it out as though it was her own home! The location is outstanding for morning or evening walks through the surrounding vineyards. There are a number of winemakers in the village and cellar door sales at Domain Saint Damien is one of our favourites. There are plenty of local village markets where one can purchase ready-cooked delicacies or fresh ingredients for home prepared meals. Our hosts have always advised us to go early in order to avoid the crowds. There are so many attractions close by, so plan plenty of time to visit, but Avignon, Nimes, Pont du Gard, I’Isle sur la Sorgue & Mont Ventoux are just a few of the ‘musts’. Finally, but not least, our hosts Nicky and Steve are wonderful. They are always contactable for help and advice. Their local knowledge is incredible and if you are looking for a wine or winery recommendation, Steve is the go-to. Steve and Nicky, thank you for providing such a wonderful house for our Provençal vacation. We will be back!
