Back for the 7th time.

By Peter and Jan Davies on 08-Jul-2023

This was our 7th stay at the house in La Beaumette hamlet and the first time with our whole family, including our grandchildren. The location is perfect to enjoy both the peaceful lifestyle of Provence as well as having easy access to shops , cafes , excellent restaurants and plenty of world class wineries in Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Beaumes de Venise.   The set up of the house works really well for a multi-generational family, with 3 bedrooms in the main house and the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom in a separate part, with independent access. The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances and a dining area at one end. There are also lots of different sitting areas both inside and outside including a lovely outdoor dining area , with a built-in barbecue. The large heated swimming pool is always very enjoyable and this time,  particularly so for our grandchildren, who love swimming and sunbathing. The gardens are typically Provencal and there is a fantastic herb garden, perfect for those who love to cook.  There is a great selection of food produce in the nearby supermarkets as well as from local markets plus cheese and olive oil producers.  We think the choice of restaurants in the area is excellent, offering variety, high quality and excellent service. They are particularly good value for lunch.  There are plenty of activities to do in the area including hiking and it's a road cyclists' dream destination. Lots of easy cycling routes and experts can test themselves on the slopes of nearby Mont Ventoux. Other day trip attractions include the famous lavender fields of Sault, the vineyards and the famous wineries of Chateauneuf du Pape.

A super property in a fabulous location

By Bryan Smith on 05-Aug-2023

A super property in a fabulous location. Nicky and Steve were excellent hosts: they offered us a warm welcome and were on-hand to give us suggestions for local visits and to help should any unexpected emergencies arise (none did for us!). The house had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday in Provence. It was very well furnished from the big items down to the small details - in fact, it was one of the best-equipped holiday properties we have stayed in (and there have been many). The house is cool inside and the room that leads to the excellent outdoor dining area and pool is a delight. The surrounding area is beautiful and there are many walking and cycling opportunities, ranging from leisurely pedalling across largely flat and gentle terrain to more adventurous trips ascending some of the challenging cols. It goes without saying that the food and wine were fabulous too. La Beaumette is high on our list for a return visit!

A wonderful week

By Jenny Wells on 28-Aug-2022

Stay at La Beaumette, August 2022. We spent a wonderful week here as a family group of eight, ourselves plus our grown up children and their partners, in August 2022. The house was lovely; spacious and full of character. There was lots of room and areas to relax so we never felt on top of each other and the large farmhouse style kitchen was a great place to prepare and eat meals together. The house was really well equipped and felt very homely, rather than just a holiday home. Doors opened out from the house onto a lovely secluded garden and pool area. The weather was amazing so we made full use of the pool and barbecued every evening, sitting out until late on the patio playing cards and drinking the local wine. Nicky and Steve were super hosts. Living just next door they invited us for drinks and canapés and shared lots of insights into the local area. The house is surrounded by vineyards and there is a wine producer on the doorstep. Nicky kindly arranged a tasting for us and we all enjoyed sampling the local gigondas. On other days we visited the great market at Vaison la romaine, went walking in the Dentelles and hired bikes to cycle some of the local routes. Highly recommended, a wonderful place!
